Rebuild Kits?

Does anyone know where to get caliper rebuild kits for '86? and later 944T four pot Brembos? Pelican does not list them, can't find anything on Brembos web site either! I'm going to try the dealership(OH NO!! ) this week I guess. I have '87 944 non turbo calipers also if I cant find some rebuild kits for the turbos.

Thanks in advance!

Rebuilds

Well I found A web site that sells rebuild parts for all 944 caliper types. Has anyone heard of, or used 944online.com? Looks like they only sell the turbo parts as a kit that includes one piston, seal, and o ring, ranging from 36mm to 44mm for the fronts and 28mm and 30mm for rears. Their not cheap starting from $39.95 to $57.95 US. I really only need the seals though, maybe they can sell the kit with out pistons. I found out I have '89 S2 calipers, and they have 36mm and 40mm pistons from my measurements. So, lets see here I need 40mm kit $44.95 x 4 and 36mm kit $57.95 x 4 = a lot to rebuild calipers! Oh well, gotta do it right the first time! Just thought I'd share some findings.

Later.

I'll probably be answering my own post (again), but maybe somebody is getting some use out of this thread. Anyway, here goes, has anyone powdercoated over the anodized finish on four piston brembo calipers? I split the caliper and popped the pistons out. It appears to me that the halves were anodized black inside and out. Where I work, we have stuff anodized and teflon coated all the time and these calipers look anodized, but I never seen or heard of anyone powdercoating over an anodized part. Has anyone had thier calipers powdercoated? Anodized parts are dipped in a hot acid solution that changes the color of the aluminum, so, it is not easy to remove. I would like to know the long term effect of powdercoating over anodized parts, if anyone has had this done.

my dealings with 944online and Ian there have been good experiences. i would recommend them based on that. as for powdercoating, i have seen it done many times, but not sure if that was over anodized parts or not. just be sure all small holes are covered or you will be scraping coating out forever.

I've not seen any pics of a Brembo caliper break-down so, I thought I'd share mine. If my pics work.

hy there,

I've worked on different porsche's over a couple of years know and I buy my spare parts most of the time from FVD. Most of the time their prices are reasonable. They don't have everything but maybe they can help you. You can also check other porsche type's than the 944. Porsche often used the same calipers on different models f.e. the 928 S4 has the same calipers as the 944 turbo S. (Make shure to check the piston diameter). Here is their site http://www.fvd.de/

Friendly regards,
Tom
Ps: I have no experiance with their online service because I buy my parts from a local distributor in belgium.

I finally had time to powder coat my calipers today. Still need to put the new seals and pistons in, but couldn't help showing some pics. Don't ask about the color. I wanted the car blue, and the suspension and brakes silver. This is my wifes car and she wanted a silver car so... Suspension and brakes are blue. Oh well, I guess it won't look that bad. Anyway here's some pics of the caliper halves apart and together.
