This will be a continuing post since I am parting out an '87 944 and have some other early 944 stuff that I do not need anymore.

1. '84 944 front Spindles. Great for a Super 1302 conversion. $50 SOLD

2. '87 944 front Spindles. Great for a Super 1302 conversion. $50

3. Volvo oil coolers (2). Real 1/2" inner diameter. $20 each.

4. Phone Dial wheels set (4). 52.3mm offset. All 15"x7". Very solid wheels, no curb rash. Clear coat is faded on some of the wheels. Comes with tires, but they are old and should be replaced. $200 NLA

5. Porsche 901 (902/0 type) 5 speed tranny. Good aluminum case. Missing some parts. Rusted gear stack but good for core parts. Open to offers.

6. '87 Aluminum rear control arms. (no stub axle) $50. See below post updates to this. Basically whole rear assembly FS now.

7. '87 Spring plates. $50. NLA

8. 944 brake rear dust covers early and late... I just do not run them. BO

Lots of other stuff just ask or I will post what might be VW useful when I figure it out.

Next week I should be digital camera enabled so I can send pics.

if I got your 87 aluminum control arms & swing plates what else would I need to complete the converion?

also are those swing plates adjustable height wise?
what about camber adjustment?

I might also be interested in your front spindles too

Got any early 944 rr. hubs and/or backing plates?

Hey Joe,

If you got the spring plates and control arms the only thing you would need to add is the stub axle and bearings. Then put on the rear IRS brakes of your choice. Pretty easy really as there is not much to these things.

I have to check on what adjustments are on the plates and get back with you.

With the 1303 front lower arms and Kersher ball joints I think the 944 spindles will bolt right up making the 944 brake conversion a snap.

Hey Julian,

I am not sure what you mean by "rr" hub in the question? Is that Right Rear? The only 944 front hubs I might have FS are from a '84 944, reluctant sale for $75. Has studs still in them.

Thanks,

Oh yah, loads of backing plates. Just let me know what you need. How does $10 each sound?

pillow, you don't waste anytime do you. you got that what, yesterday?

joe, if you come up this weekend, pillow lives across town and i will be trying to hook up with him anyway (probably sunday morning before going to jake's). so can pickup whatever you need from pillow and you can pay me (no markup, i promise). or if you are up here early enough, we can run over together.

Zen

that might work, I will let you know soon.

Pillow,

what about those rear spring plates?
are they adjustable two ways?
can I use them right now by themselves to replace my stock ones?

Hey Zen, yup the "chop shop" is open :) The wife says I need to hurry up so she can park in the garage again!

She was a good helper and gave me a hand pushing it in the garage :help:

Tonight I am getting a medium duty air compressor (out of money for a nice one) which should make the rear suspension cake to take out... I hope.

Joe, I need to be at home to look at the swing plates in detail, but they should drop right in to a Beetle anyway with or w/o the AL control arms. If you want I can give Zen all of it and just return the AL control arms if you do not like them... But once you see them, you will want them. Awesome stuff! Then again I have been known to be a sucker for cool parts :silly:

Pillow-- I need both rears. Sorry for the confusion. Hubs and what I mean by backing plates are the caliper mounting brackets. Must be from early 944 (85.5 and earlier). Are we talking about the same parts? THANKS!!

Hi Julian,

Sorry no rear brakes FS.... I need the two sets I have now for my personal projects.

FWIW, there seems to be little to no difference between the early setup and later rear brakes for the single piston caliper setup.

Zen, I have 2 210mm flywheels. One very nice one and one that needs some cleaning. I will send a PM.

Thanks,

Hello,
I am interested in the Complete '87 944 rear braking system and control arms. However I am in Hong Kong. Do you ship them to Hong Kong (by US Parcel Service)? If so, please let me know how much for the USPS cost and I can transfer you the payment beforehand for both the parts and freight costs.
Thanks and regards
Tim

Hi Tim,

The only warning I have is that shipping (regular USPS) might be expensive since this is a heavy package (40 poundsish).

E-mail me offline and I can give you some pictures and work out shipping.

Thanks,
