1970 Standard with disks up front (Ghia) and drums out back (Stock).
What width / offset can I run (16" or 17") without losing turning radius ?
I'm getting sick of my 18 wheeler radius and want to get bigger wheels....

I had a 1972 standard, I fitted some 6 (36ET) x 7 (23ET) inch Cookies to it and they fitted fine, the front did however slightly reduce the turning circle.

I'm doing some research and if I understand things correctly, I am looking for a wheel with a very low Offset.
Most wheels I see have an offset of +40 or +50, which would pull the rim in too far and I would have the same problem all over again.
Rota has some rims that are 17 x 7.5 /+18 but they have the wrong bolt pattern (4 x 108 )
I wonder if I could get some deep dish steelies with a 4x100 pattern.....

rob, i believe that the ae86 corolla/trueno/levin have wheels in that pattern that may suit what you want, they are popular with drifters everywhere, can find 15x8s with offsets from around -12 to +20 around here, search your japanese forums, might prove useful :)

Its all a bit of give and take, if you stay with standard fenders/wings/guards your limited.
16 inch Fuchs have the same offset as 15 Cookies.
When I muck around with various wheel options, I plug a known wheel size and ET (offset) into this program http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

4x100 isnt a good PCD for getting rims with nice dish
cos it was all the 90s compact FWD cars run it theres not many rims out there with a low offset
all the 4 stud 80s RWD and even most FWD were all 4x114.3
the 4x108 is the dodgy pattern from stuff like alfas and opels

It will give you the alloy wheel fitments but they will be the same or very close for the steel equivalent especially on the pcd and offset.
