Most of the trim is polished/anodized aluminum. Rough it with some 225 grit, spray some etching primer, and finish it with bumper paint of John Deere Blitz Black... ;)

I would like to spray my headlight trim rings satin black. Would the 225 paper be sufficient to scuff the chrome down? Or should I Use a harsher grit?

225 should do it. You simply want to dull the shine to give the etching primer something to grab... ;)

I used a wire brush drill attachment. Didn't take long to scuff the chrome down:)

i used one in my angle grinder but only on the bumpers
i think the rest of the trim is too delicate
my body trim is only aluminium and cos i have semi sealed headlights the chrome rings are plastic
