Where do you get your electrical stuff ?

Where do you guys get your automotive wiring / fuse boxes etc ?

I'm thinking about re-doing some of the wiring and using an aftermarket fuse box, and color coded wiring for that, but I'm not sure where I would go for that ? (Preferably in Canada)

Hi Rob,

For prewired "kits" I've used Painless Wiring or similar brands. Performance Improvements, JRP and occasionally Princess Auto are good sources for these. It's definitely far easier to start with one of those kits and work from there, vs wiring up a bare panel yourself. Even with the kit expect to install, mark, remove, and reinstall the kit for a clean installation. You really need to map it out with the Bug as well, since the kits typically expect that you're mounting them near a battery. Splicing into the stock loom for turn signals and ignition will also be required.

If you're looking for "raw" electrical parts...bare fuse panels, spools of wire, connectors, etc. The best source I've used is www.wayteckwire.com . I usually plan it out, do one big order and then get my smaller resupply from local electrical suppliers. Waytek is great with shipping cross border, and I haven't been nailed with any crazy duties.

There is a guy out in the Kitchener area that makes complete setups. Mainly tailored for the dune buggy crowd, but he's work is really good, with coded wires and weather pack connections. Top shelf. I'll see if I can dig up come contact info, or maybe other guys will chime in with info..

I buy most of my stuff in a plaza(401 & Dixie), that has a bunch of cash and carry shops full of electronic crap. The stores are all within the same strip. If one place doesn't have what you need, you'll find it in another. Stuff for houses, audio/video, automotive, electronics. Shops that comes to mind:
