It looks like the rubber bushes at the spring plate are bonded on?
How do you remove them?
Will the OD of the spring plate where the bush rides be the same as VW?
What did you do?

Take them outside and burn them off with some MAPP gas, or propane. As it heats up use a putty knife to start scraping it off, then a wire wheel to finsh up.
The T1 inner bushings fit. You can use 944, or T1 outers.

Hi
As above but slice as much off as you can with a hacksaw blade or knife.

I used a hand saw with a lot of teeth, to cut the big chuncks, then used a chisel, to remove a little more, then used a 3M paint removing pad, to clean it up.. after that you can paint or zink plate..
When I get a chance I will post some pics of the entire process

944 bushings are wider than the beetle ones by 5mm. You will have to use 944 poly bushes or beetle ones with a 5mm shim to pack it out. I did as I also wanted to use the camber adjusting nut on the 944 spring plate that would have fouled without the shim.

let me make sure i have it straight..
The inner bushings are the same as T1.
Remove the old bushing, and use a beetle one.
But the outers need to either:
1. use the 944 bush and 944 cover
2. use the beetle bush and beetle cover
Right?

Yeah! but I cheated on that as well since I bought a full set of bug poly bushes before I bought the 944 undercarriage (a bargain purchase). I used another 5mm IIRC shim in the alloy housing. The 944 poly bush is a horrible price but the inner and outer diameters are the same as the bug ones. BTW my shims are made from some white pvc sheet I have.
