Hi

I need to widen my 1303 front track to fill the fenders up and to move the wheels out so that I have some decent lock. I need about 29 mm.

I have 8 inch 3 piece wheels, the only way to make them look right and match the rears is to have about 40 ET.

Long story, short version, I had Beetle hubs modified so that 911 rotors bolt to them, this gave 0 track increase because this is what I wanted, see 1st photo.

New car now, brakes from old car. What I wanted to do was get some Porsche alloy hubs, see 2nd photo.

My question is, which model hubs would give me the most track increase, 944 or 911, but which model. I would rather do it this way than run spacers.

The '87 and later 944 hubs add the most track. Can't remember how much. It's on Lanner's site. Don't know about the 911's.

Steve,

Just remember that you can only increase your overall track by 26mm from stock for engineering purposes.
This will include the hubs and rims, both left and right sides collectively......

Steve,

Would also throw into the mix, some extra long bolts.. to make sure thing is safe and snug if your going to use spacer or such..

Hi

Its going to end up way under track as it is, I think billet hubs is the way to go.

Hi Flinstones & anybody else interested

I was in hurry to answer properly before.

The wheels I have are 18x8s, I'm getting them made with a 40 Et to suit the wider 944 arms that I have on the rear, otherwise I would have needed to have the wheels dished on the front which would have looked odd.

The stock VW wheel has an ET of 34 so if I add 6 & 13 per side to satisfy our local authorities that allows me to widen my track by 19 mm per side, but the rules can be interpreted different ways.

From our local rules "Where non original axle or suspension components are fitted, the offset of the wheel in relation to the axle or stub axle assembly used shall not be increased by more than 12.5mm each side of the vehicle based on the specifications of the axle components used."

The way I read that is if I fit Porsche front hubs that give me say a 9mm track increase I can add 18 mm to my maximum track.

The 29mm increase I mentioned before was to give me the same affect as using 8 inch 10.6 ET Fuchs.

Steve

PS my new wheels before being refurbished

sneaky Steve, but if you can get your engineer to agree then that's ok.
from the ruling though, it talks about the track from the axle/stub, not the hub as you've mentioned.....
cheers
