Don't flame me for slamming my car... this is not for track or racing- :(
Ok, so long story short, we are making modified lowered rear trailing arms. I have the jig made and need to know if I made a mistake before cutting into the arms.
What we are doing-
We are raising the rear part of the trailing arm 4" in order to retain some of the suspension travel and not have the spring plate/ bump stop interference.
Here are some pics to show what we are doing (EXCPET WE ARE DOING IT A LITTLE NICER) These are not pics of my trailing arms...

When he made his, I am not sure he used a jig to insure that everything stayed in line. We are however- althought I need to know one thing.
When I made the jig, I extended the trailing arm by 1/4" by using 1/4" plate as my drop plate. My question is will this affect the toe too much? We will be lowering it more on top of the 4" drop from the plate.
I know people extend there spring plates up to 1/2" when going low.

Wow, copying the vertical offset concept of a Porsche 930 arm, very nice.
To your off setting of the stub location as to affecting the toe in question: If you’re just moving it laterally, you haven’t changed anything. Build a movable jig before you start this…, trust me.
Being that you don’t see this concept your undertaking ever day, I like it!
I also saw that you cut the lip on the front edge of the spring plate at 45 deg. To clear you shock tower, I did this also. But the offset is a better way of going in lowering you car.

Hey David ddardvark,
I was just on webshots trying to 'friend' you today! I wanted to get some better shots / downloads of your cad drawings of your suspension and cage setup for your Speedster.

haha, me too, trying to find some measurements for the type4 exhaust stubs. Your pics turned up on google search. Do you happen to have some exact numbers?

No problem, I can wait :P It's been snowing so bad out here that I can barely get out of the house, so I couldn't do anything eaven if I had all the measurements in the world :)

So I completely forgot that I made this. I was doing so much research in the process of building the suspension for this car.
Yes we made the trailing arms and custom coils for the front. The arms turned out great. I did what dd-ardvark recommended and used a jig to make sure I did lose any of the alignments of the trailing arms.
I will say that I love how it worked out. I got all the drop I needed with no camber change. I love it. But if I were to make another set, I would got for a 3" drop instead of 4"
Here is how it came out for those that want to know.

It was a learning experience for sure... can't wait to build some for my car!

Great work on the suspension, have you had it on a proper alignment rack to get numbers? Also, nice set of wheels you got there, just got a set myself

Which coilovers/sleeves did you use to slip over those stock struts?

We have not had it on a rack yet. The ATS's are getting replaced with 16's with 205/50's. should give us another 1" of clearance under the frame head without actually raising the suspension. But yes, they are my favorite set of wheels!
We just recently found out the local tire kingdom has an I ground rack and really cool guys willing to work with lowered cars. So hopefully one the new wheels are on we can get it over there and get some readings.

Check out this thread and list what I bought and how I did it. However, if I did it again, I would definitely change a few things. If people would like, I will make a thread on here similar to that one for searching purposes.
