I fitted them to Beetle stubs using 944 hubs

Hi Steve, Question did you recondition the calipers yourself? If so how are you able to recondition the Porsche lettering so nicely.

Hi

I just painted the outside, so a rattle can restoration and lettering is a decal I bought on eBay, they have stood up to the heat very well.

Lucky I bought a few spare decals as they wanted to to stick to the backing and not to the calliper.

Generally Porsche callipers have stainless piston which don't corrode so I full rebuild is not always needed.

Hello, just bought the calipers and discs. Do you have the adapter dimensions?
Thanks in advance.

Turn the early hubs down to 157mm and theyll fit the 986s rotor. I can make the caliper adapter but the axial offset can vary depending on how your 944 hubs were machined for t1 spindles.

Actually my calipers are 986 2,5 base model. P/N 986.351.422. Spindles and hubs are early 944 N/A. By 157mm you mean the diameter of the hub?

Yes outside diameter (OD) of hub.

With the 986 non S caliper theres another option. Use a 84-89 911 carrera rotor (282x24) and itll bolt on like a 944na rear mount rotor(282x20) and match the boxster caliper width (24mm). I build alot of these setups because they fit 15" wheels, whereas the boxster rotor is bigger (298x24) and requires 16"

where I am the 986 rotors are half the price of carreras. Do the pads cover the whole carrera rotor area, or overhang a bit?

They cover. No overhang.

oh, I thought with carrera rotors, i would have to shave off some material from the pads. So what do you suggest? Wheel size is not an issue, i run 17s.

forgot to mention, on the rear i ve got 299x24 turbo discs with 996.352.422 calipers.

Hey Steve,
Where did you get the 944 adapter bearings from? I may also need a set ;)

TIA,
Walter
