Okay - here's a 944 (of some sort) front caliper:

and...here's my rear brake (CB Perf.) setup:

here's how they mount:

do you think the 944 front brakes could adapt ?
I guess I also wonder what I'd use for rotors ?
just pondering......
What about those front calipers on CB's front (link pin) spindles ?
then what do I do for rotors...
I need help here..
anyone have any ideas ?
Thanks, Dan

Dan,
You could probably mount the 944 caliper but the thickness of the rotor needs to be 24mm (Rear calipers) or 28mm (front calipers).
Both front and rear calipers are identical except for the rotor thickness.
To fit the 944 rotors, you'd need a 944 rear hub. I think the splines on the stub axle are the same as IRS but someone will have to confirm that. For the ebrake, you may be able to adapt a small parking brake caliper (Wilwood).
If you were to use your current rotors, I think they'd be too thin .. the pistons in the 944 caliper might overextend.
Hope this help a bit.

hmmm......I have a swing axle...I'm sure the splines wouldn't be the same for swing huh ?

Dan,
The splines on a swing axle are the same as the splines on an IRS. I cannot see why the 944 caliper carriers, 944 T calipers (like in the picture), 944 T rotors and stub axles can't be used. The drum brakes on the IRS and swingaxle are interchangable. Therefore, they should bolt straight on.
Correct me if I am incorrect?!
Good luck,
Andy.

nd stub axles can't be used. The drum brakes on the IRS and
well #1 there aren't really "stub axles" on a swing axle 'eh ?
The axles go all the way through to the gearbox.

If the splines are the same for swing axle and IRS, and drums from an IRs are interchangable with swing axle, could you not just swap 944 rear brake components to swing axle then ?

Dan,
My apologies... I meant I can't see why 944T hubs cannot be used. I think the 944T components are a simple bolt on.

swing axle beetle uses the same splines on drive shaft as the irs ...
why not bolt early 944 rear brake carriers on
but,
use a brembo instead of the slider type caliper ......the end finished..........
it works !!!
