It seems to me that the perfect solution to mounting a Porsche transmission with a push type clutch would be to add a hydraulic clutch. Is this done often? I haven't seen many people do this. What are some reasons that someone wouldn't use a hydraulic clutch?

The biggest problem is the pedal cluster. Most of them require you to cut the front wall just behind the teh clutch pedal.

the kit I am using is from Saco and I got it thru ISP West.
The cylinder used for the clutch sits in the tunnel and hooks onto the clutch cable hook.

Article to come soon......(a couple of weeks).

I'm using a hydraulic clutch. I've done this by modifying the bulkhead & stock pedal assy. Car is not running yet so can't comment on how this system works but in theory its all worked out well.

What's involved in doing this mod? Do you have to cut into the tunnel?

Yes you have to cut it.

I will write a detailed article in the next couple of weeks. I will install it soon and I will take lots of pics.

no cutting the tunnel, just modifying the bulkhead

For the Saco clutch kit you have to cut the tunnel but not the bulkhead.

Hey Alex,

How much of a pain was it to install this kit? Do you have any pics?

I've been looking at it and for the life of me, I can't see how it mounts.

Thanks in advance.

I have pics. I will post them on the weekend so stay tuned.

I am also thinking of writing a quick article about the Saco kit. Hmmm.....maybe I should do that on Friday.

Hi,
I bought the same kit Alex has. Also from ISP West. I will be using it for a 915 trans.
Alex,
Don't forget to include the remark of Shad about the plastic line that should be swapped with a steel one. It is s/where in this forum.
Looking forward to the article as well, since I haven't installed mine yet.
Good luck,
Walter
