I'm curious how old the majority of people are that about German Look. This look is by far the most pricey so I'm thinking this is a more mature crowd here, but I could be wrong. oh by the way I'm in the second catagory

3 years older than my bug....

It's funny that you say that the since the German Look is pricey it would have a more mature following.

Us 'old folks' always say: I wish I still lived at home and could spend all my cash on the car, no mortgage, kids, car for the wife, etc. etc. :D :D

I am ancient. You may call me ancient master. I probably have more time behind the wheel of a bug than some of the new kids on the block are old. Someone asked me at college if they had pencils when I went to highschool. I think we used sharpened sticks and clay tablets. Unfortunately I am still as horny as I was in highschool. That was forty or fifty years ago. Elvis was the man. TV was black and white, music came on records, they didn't have smog, terrorists, or computers. Mac Donalds cost $3.50 to feed a family of 8 and that was outrageously expensive. But I don't care what happened then, it is being a part of what is happening now that is important.

Man, I'm geezing in this group. I think Chigger has me beat since I never quite got the appeal of Elvis; although, I did like hunka-hunka-burnin' love and If you're lookin' for trouble ... you've come to the right place. Sorry, I don't remember the titles.

The black-and-white reference for me was The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show. My brother, who is 8˝ years my elder, wanted to watch. I had to watch since he basically loathed the show. My musical tastes were altered immediately.

The McDonald's reference rang a bell for me, too. I remember diving for change after morning swim practice so my friend and I could feast on our bounty.

Now, half of The Beatles are dead, half of The Who are dead, and half of my parents are dead. I have three color TVs, 150 channels, and nothing to watch. Thank goodness for my family, friends, and future.

I am 20 years old. My Bug was born in May of 1972, and I was born in December of 1982, so that makes my bug around 10 years older than I am.

Supa Ninja,
Looks like your statement was spot on. I also thought it would be for the same reasons.
When I was born, beetles were still made with reclining head lamps... (thirty something).

I am 58. I got interested in Bugs in the early 60s when I saw a new Bug with a new Porsche motor in it. It definitly got my attention. In '68 after a rollover in my '65 Porsche I transfered everything I could into our second car, a '66 bug..... good times.

I'm 33, and got my first bug when i was 16 - i still have it 17 years later so have owned it for more than half my life...

When can i start my mid-life crisis? That would be a good excuse to blow a years salary at Remelle...

Seems that its a popular thing. I bought my first car when I was 15 , which was a 69 beetle, and I still have it almost 21 years later. I completely tore the car apart and re-did everthing then, and now Im tearing it apart again to do it right. Funny how things change when you have a income that pays more then 6.00 an hour.
Later Darren:D

Just noticed I didnt mention anything about my 55, had it for one year and havent even touched it. Cant decide if I should finish the 69 (about 75% complete) or spend all my time on the 55(which needs some TLC) Any ideas, what would you do?

I'm 31 and my Super is 32. My parents bought a standard new in 71. I only paid a couple hundred less for mine than they did theirs. I thought it to be kind of funny anyway. I had a 68 that had a baja kit on it when I was 17. Now that I think about it, my parents bought there first bug when they were 17 too. My Mom has had a few since; but my Dad just had the 1. They are divorced{thought that would make sence of the difference in how many they have owned}. I hope not to ever be bugless again unless I get a Ghia sometime, then maybe.

My mother was 8 when my Beetle was built. She's a 1948, it's a 1956. Although, if I take into account all the modern equipment (996 brakes, 1969 chassis, 1987 944 rear suspension, etc), I think the bug would average somewhere close to my age. I'm 25 btw.

My 1st car that I owned was a 73 Super Beetle. I am 50 now and I am currently working on a 75 1303 GL. My wife says that I am trying to recapture my past but what she doesn't know is that this car will be faster than the past could ever be. I just want to drive the car the way it should have been built in the 1st place. I can't wait to get on the road and eat some rice.

What Can I say, I was in High School whe my Super Beetle was born, but in those days I drove a 57 Chevy V-8, then proceeded to VW Fomula Vee race car before moving unto Formula Ford race cars.

Well let me see, I am 40.....ish; as we get older we get a little sensitive to the age thing, but being and honesty christian guy OK... 48 years young.

Actually MY Super Beetle project is really for my daughter and she was born in 1982 so the Super is 10 years older than her. But then again I am not too sure I will want her to drive the Super that much. Since I am planning and securing the parts needed to start phase two of this project with a 2.0L type IV with some type of forced induction maybe a blower or turbo after I do my
homework and then build myself another powerplant. Yes I am really 48 and having some VW fun.

What's the old line? ...."old enough to know better, too young to care", or maybe "I'm just "more mature".

:) Hi All
I am the same age as my Bug.
We are both 61 models...
Sometimes I wonder which one of us is holding their age better...!
At least she has had a bit of a face lift since she has lived with me.
Pity I can't say the same!!
And she is the one getting all the compliments too...
