Btw, David Howard from Absolute Bodywork on Deland, FL is doing the body & paintwork on my 1302.

He is fair, honest & knows what he is doing :)
He is also restoring a 62 Beetle for himself.

No, as much as I like the color it is now, I have decided to go a little deeper & brighter.

I will be using Electric Blue (2003 PT Cruiser)

vujade
July 1st 2003, 07:51
thats good news Zen.
Hopefully we will be done about the same time :D

I am going over to the bodyshop today to pick up some trim pieces (to have them powder coated) & my bumpers & headlight rings (to have then dechromed)

zen
July 1st 2003, 07:55
that's going to look sweet. did you get your c/f on order?

vujade
July 1st 2003, 07:59
I went ahead and ordered my Blue Carbon Fiber Running Boards from Joe yesterday.

I held off on the CF headlight rings & bumpers because I wasnt sure if I would get them intime for the painting of the car. So I am having my chromed parts chemically dipped at the chrome shop to remove all the chrome.

I will order my CF interior parts as soon as the body & paint are done and I decide exactly which parts I want to use from Joe.

As far as the decklid goes, not ordering one of those until I see the finished product.

Superman
July 1st 2003, 23:21
Yes I believe you're right. I pulled up some pics online and compared the two and the PT color looks lighter with a more silver base tone. The blue I really want I've seen on a Huffy BMX bicycle.

vujade

James

Yes the PT color has alot of silver metalic base tones.
I think thats why I liked it so much.

Originally I wanted to paint my car silver.
But there is already a really nice 67GL here in Florida on the
show circuit and soon Zen's car will be silver too.

WOW, that looks great!

Gonna have it done for the meeting? :)

How did the body guy put the roof in? Is it seamed right at the crease in the roof? Or did he peal back the rain gutter?

vujade
August 11th 2003, 13:45
No, Im not gonna have it ready for the meeting :(

It should be ready for Bug Jam though :D

As far as the roof goes, he originally planned to seam it in at the rain gutter, but because I used a roof section from a 1303 it ended up not having exactly the same roof crease down the side.
So in order to keep the creas the same, he had to graft it in at the crease instead of at the rain gutter. You can even tell at all.
