So now its time to upgrade my `74 1303S brakes, but on a tight budget. So this includes no sexy Porsche parts.
Front: I have been told that Talbot Horizon calipers fit Supers quite easily. Any options for this? Has anyone tried out Golf/Rabbit calipers?
Rear: Drums will do for now, but I have heard of people using type 2, 3 or 4 brake cylinders with bigger diameter pistons. Which of these fit in type 1?

Yes, talbot horizon calipers will fit, they have thr right bolt spacing and so bolt right on. They have larger pistons and larger pads but they will interfere with some wheels..
You can use type 3 rear drums, which again are a bolt on part. they have bigger cylinders, and wider pads (same size as super beetle front pads)..

Yes, Michael Ghia has a good description of the Talbot conversion on his homesite.
But I was hoping to get the rear done more easily; could I only replace the original cylinders with bigger ones that fit straight in?
As I said, I have heard that this can be done.

Yes, you can use just the type 3 cylinders which are slightly bigger, in the standard drums..

I do believe those are the same as the 924 as they are larger [than the Type I] also.
