I am putting a 56 body onto a 69 pan and the only significant problem I have to deal with is the rear mount on the body. Its a small bracket that bolts the body to the shock tower and need to be relocated by about 2 inches. The bracket is only spot welded to the body, so moving it should not be hard. I'm not sure what year VW changed the position of this, but you may not need to do this for your 63 body. Someone else may have the definitive answer and a way to tell before triall fitting. Hope this helps.

Here is a link to an aussie vw forum site (I am from Australia) which details my mods to the rear body mount when I put my 63 body onto a 68 swing axle pan...

My suggestion would be just to cut the bottom out of the bracket, narrow it, cut off the length on the bottom of the vertical portion of the bracket, then weld the bottom back on again aftet the correct level is achieved. Remember, there is supposed to be a rubber mount in between the 2

While your at it, you might just want to seam weld the rest of the bracket to the body too.
