i have recently fitted some 17" wheels to my 1970 beetle. the car has widened fenders but the wheels have very little offset so in the front, the rim rubs against the outer swaybar clamp when turning. the turning radius is very small because of this. i was wondering if there would be much of a problem if i took the outer swaybar clamp off and cut the swaybar back to the inner clamp. i think it should give it quite a bit more room to turn but was wondering if anyone thought this was a bad idea. it is a ball joint front end with cb performance dropped spindles and disc brakes with 17 x 7 wheels.

Boojus, what type of swaybar do you have (stock, bugpack, etc.)? If you have/get the Bugpack (style) swaybar for lowered bj. front ends you should be able to flip it over so the ends mount on the upper side of the lower torsion arm. Just a thought. I think Sandeep has/had this setup?
Good luck,
Dave

the swaybar used to be stock, but i took the whole thing off. ive been looking at new swaybars and found one that mounts to the bottom of the shocks, but that one made by whiteline costs 170 just for the front. ill take a look at that bugpack swaybar though
thanks
