is working with carbon fiber hard or is it similar to working with fiber glass. I think that it would be cool to make a frame and stretch the carbon cloth over it and make a sub-box out of it

For what you want to do it would be just like Fglass except the cost will be about 10 times more. If you really want to do it right, you'll have to vacuum bag it and cure it in a oven.

what do you mean by vacuum bag it and bake it in an oven?

This is part of the process when working with carbon fiber, when a part is vacuum bagged the vacuum pulls all of the air and excess resin out of it. If your going to use the right resin for your part it has to be cured in a oven, yes there are room-temp resins but they are not as strong as hi-temp resins.
