Someone has got to buy this car.
If I was in Cali I would be all over it.
Its a 75 1303, with factory steel sunroof.
It doesnt appear to have any major rust.
It even runs!
Don't forget about the rack & pinion steering too!
Guy want $775 or best offer.

Thats how it is here in Cali. Nobody likes the Super Beetles so they are very cheap. That will change when the GL sweeps through CA. Most of the GL's that I have seen here are not even 1302/03's.
Most clean Cal Lookers only go for $2000-3000, and a clean 1302/1303 (pre 75 because they are smog exempt) maybe $1000. I've turned down countless free Supa's because I don't have room for them. That's the market here in California.

Emerson, you'll be the first to know when I hear of another one. Did you go to Bug-O-Rama?

Sweetness. I'll be waiting. Yes, I did go to Bug-O-Rama. It was my first time there. All that I found interesting were the Der Renn Kafer cars, the yellow GL Ghia, and the white Super restored with German NOS parts. Speaking of the California market, what does it tell you when the owner of the white Super has to put up a sign that says "What is a 1302?" ;)

Yup its all Cal Look all the time here. They can have there straight line cars, but the mountain roads is where I have my fun.

As for this particular 1975 1303, I already contacted him. His reply was he had already found a buyer. I counter-replied for him to let me know if the deal falls through for him to re-reply to me.

I haven't heard back yet, so...

BTW, this is EXACTLY what I am looking for. I was even checking into flights from Balto/DC/Philly/etc. airports to LAX until I got the bad news.

So, I will keep looking.

oasis, you can have the car shipping coast to coast on open trailer for aroun $600-$800. just dig through Hemmings ads for the best listing i have found. i used interstate for closed transport. good people.

I may look into such a service as needed, but I want to see the car before I purchase unless I have an agent I can trust. Once the purchase is made, I will ship/drive/whatever it. (Obviously, if I buy a European car, it'll have to be transported.)

I appreciate your suggestion, though. I only know who not to use. My brother-in-law had a bad experience having his Mexi-Beetle shipped. I get Hemmings from time to time. I never thought of looking for this service in there. Thanks!

It definitly is true that everybody hates supers here in ca. EVERY
junkyard has about 5 supers, and nobody really takes parts from them. In the east bay here I have access to 20 junk yards full of vws and supers. The standard t1s are sometimes gone through
and empty. Cal look is lame. Most of the cal look bugs I try to race won't, because theyre too "sano" to get dirty. WEAK! Those little pizza cutter front tires under steer so bad, it's sad. GL is fresh to ca, and we need change. No more chrome vintage dingleberry crap.

Oasis if you need someone in the CA to scout out a '75 1303, I'll keep my peepers open for you. You would like Ca Super better then a East Coast one anyways, less rust.

Thanks, that would be nice. I am aware of the less rust route.

I'm selling my '98 golf for a more cost efficiant car. I've always liked bugs and now that the GL is coming out I'm in love. I live in San Diego and really would like some help getting started with this project. I don't know how to really work on cars and would need to get most work done at a shop. Is this possible in so cal? Any help or advice would be appriciated. Please e-mail me at Volkswagon81@aol.com. will be selling car soon so please hurry.

Speaking of CA cars (and Supers in perticular) I just bought (another!) 71' Super today

My 71 is up in Idaho at my moms with a dropped valve, and needed another bug, now!! So, $300 later, I came home with a 71, primered 1302. Nothing to look at, thats for sure, and the motor made the trip home in the bed of the truck, that'll it get back in the bug after I change out the cylinders/pistons and heads, add carbs, dizzy, pump, alternator, etc... and get a fan shroud...anyone have a OE shroud for sale.

Other wise the car is great, the body is pretty darn straight, and the brakes are all there too...the worst I saw was the parcel shelf in the back had some cancer, as well as the battery tray area, but other than that, its all good...and I payed $300....not bad huh!?

anyway, I'll try and post some pics soon!!
