Thanks for the heads up. Ive been looking at getting a 901, What is a good year. Ive read that there is magnisium and aluminum versions.

'66 to '69 is the only years 901s were used, all are good (including the 902 trans from the 912).

They came with various gear ratios which can be determined by the number next to the 901. It looks like 901/08, I think there is a ratio reference on the renlist site.

They also came with different drive hub (cv) flanges, early usually have type 1 size flanges, my '69 902 trans had 930 size flanges (I swapped them out for type 1 size).

in '70-72 they changed to the 911-01 trans which is also a good trans to use. Then came the 915 which is more difficult/expensive to use (early had mag cases, late had aluminum cases).
