planning to convert the rear of my 72 to IRS to install a 901 box.Already bought but not fitted a front disc kit. I understand that the 944 rear set up is more or less bolt on, so if I did this would I need to use some kind of biasing as the porsche rears would surely be stronger than the of the shelf front kit.

hey
You shall have no problem, running porsche rear disks and stock vw front disks, i am currently running that setup on my daily driven bug and have experienced no problems. When i fitted them though just to be sure i put the car oon a rolling road to test the brake bias and they were about the same, not idea but suitable for use. I personally prefer more rear bias as there is more of the bug weight at the back, jsut like on a porsche.
hope thats of some help
as for fitting, have a look here www.geocities.com/meteorbug and check the porsche rear disk section

Did not know that you can also use them on swing axle. was going to do the gearbox and brakes in one hit.Might find a beefed up stock box and run it like that until I can afford the box.
Cheers Karl

yeah they bolt straight onto a swingaxle,
if you think about it 1303s and standards have rear drums which are interchangeable, so its no problem to put on rear disks to a stock box.
Although how long them box will last me is another thing!!!
glad to have helped
