Bug Jam Check In Thread

Ok guys, whose going to the Jam & staying at Sleep Inn besides me?

Let's use this thread to organize and arrange the coming weekends plans.

NO_H2O, Nigel and I are caravaning together from ATL and are all staying at the Sleep Inn. we are heading out of south ATL around 10:00am on Friday. should put us down there around 6 or 7pm.

my bug making it is increasingly questionable. just way too much to do. i am still trying but keep getting my butt kicked by little things. had to come up here and get away from it for a few before i start breaking things. if any one item on my car was a stock fit, i would have been ready a long time ago. oh, the price we pay.:(

I got my tires mounted and went over the front end alignment. Got the camber and toe right. The first alignment I got was the death of a pair of Kumo's in 6 months. Changed my oil and stuff. I will have to wait until we get there to clean it.
Come on Zen, you can do it. Now get back to work.

I know I'm not the most active member of the VKG but I'll be in attendance. Minus the VW of course, I'm having some slight engine trouble and I don't have a spare tire so I'm not going to risk hurting my engine further or getting a flat. But at least I'll get to meet the rest of you guys.

Long story but when I got home on Sunday I started to take her apart to install the 944 rear end... That is still in progress of course and outlook very iffy on being completed. Just too much work for 4 days effort.

I hope to bum a buddys bus and make it down with a group from ATL, but that is up in the air as well.

I will know more tomorrow, maybe if it is a killer day.

pillow, if you want to ride with me, you are welcome too. i will be taking the truck with the bug in tow one way or the other. we can hook up in town or maybe you can meet up with Nigel at his new place off briarcliff and we can head down to dave's from there. we will be going friday morning and heading back monday morning. i think we have room reservations left over. not sure though.

btw, just had one of those duh moments. spent a couple of hours last week figuring out how to use carrera RS door pulls as pulls and door releases on my car. figured it out and it is beautiful. decided i would go ahead and cut the holes in my c/f door panels for those and window cranks. pulled them out and realised that joe already cut the window cranks and door handles which i was not going to run and is the whole reason i went through the trouble above. hate it when that happens.

Thanks for the offer on the spare tire but my beetle isn't really worth showing off right now and I'd rather just drive down with A/C because if I do break my beetle I don't have a sufficient cash flow to fix it. What time are you guys going to be going to BugJam?

The Atl. area group is leaving from My place around 10:00 am. Fri.

Here is my plan.

Leave 6 AM Friday morning with a bunch of slow busses headed for Tampa. Camp at some bus shop in Tampa. Saturday attend the Bulli Brigade.

Saturday afternoon? Meet up with VKG hopefully.
Saturday night?

Sunday - Bug Jam with VKG all day.

Leave for ATL... Sunday late or Monday morning, very much up in the air. Maybe camp at a state park outside of Tampa Sunday night?

Not well planed at all but oh well :)

Hey Pillow, lets hook up at the Eagles Landing exit as you come by, Nigel and I will be driving down(both Bugs), Zen has to close on his house Fri morning and will be driving(towing) down Fri. night or Sat. morning. Give me a call and we can set a time.

... Not sure if we will be slowing you up though in busses? You may want to ditch us if we are pokey :(

I of course will have Susan with me who may or may not be a slow up as well..? We will see. Normally she can do a road trip very well though, we have done numerous 12ish hour rides in the past.

just got back from the show. GREAT show and a few very nice GLs with 996 brakes from and rear :eek: . pics coming soon from several of us.

TONS of people coming over asking about the cars and upgrades. there are quite a few more GLs out there in the works that we had not heard about. look for them to be coming here.

Yep, it was a great show and the GL fever is GROWING.

over 400 shows & 8000+ spectators.

we got to talk to alot of nice people that are currentl;y building GL cars.

I had a blast hanging with you guys. even Nigel, one of our future members :)
