thanks for the compliment. if your car is from texas there probably is not much worry in the form of rust as the climate is more dry than here . if youve never been here think of a swamp w/o the marsh lands. we have terrible humidity as of 10:25 pm the humidity is about 85% pretty normal day too. thats were most of the rust comes from here. that and almost no one takes care of their old cars just park them out back and forget them. oh yeah almost forgot the quarters are mid america.

I started a beetle project this summer, your car was certainly one of the inspirations for my project. I have put on the topline goodies like the 4 wheel disc brakes, Maxx Struts, 7/8' swaybar in front and added a new set of gas bilsteins in the rear. I also have the same style Porsche rims that you are running with 205/40's in front and 255/40's in the rear. So now I need wider fenders for the rear, I see that you are running them only 2" wider, I was not sure that world be enough, I just put them on last night and eyeballed them and was thinking it may require fenders 3" wider. I'm also running 1.5" spacer/adapters on the rear hubs to get the 17x9's (55mm offset) to clear. Are you using a 1.5" adapter? And 2" wider fenders gives you good clearance?

Thanks,

Mitch

Cool, nice to see a GL brother over in york.yes i did use 1.5 inch adapters only because i didnt want to cut the bump stops. and 2inch wider fenders will work unless you plan to cut the bump stops then i think stock fenders will work. also the wider fenders look cool with the wider stance. send or post some pics id like to see what you're doing.have you looked into vkg? check the website at www.volksport.net

Sorry...I was slow in responding. Yes I have joined VKG and will try to get some photos posted and a blog going. Looks like Zen is still working on the site, but when its ready i'll get something up there....My SB looks better in pictures than up close any way :) .

One more question regarding your rear fenders, I need to order some, right now I have the backend jacked up like a late 60's Nova to  to keep the fenders off the tires. I looked at CCC's website and they appear to only have 1.25" and 3", I also looked at MarkV, they have the 2" wider fenders, but no recess for the stock tail lights. Where to you get you fenders?

Thanks,
Mitch

Hello Lazarus,
What year turn signals are you using, because I want to use the early style signals on my super cabrio. By the way the car looks "OFF THE CHAIN!!!".

Thanks, TOW74

thanks for the compliment. i think those are off either a 68 or 69 im not sure. i will tell you this if you put these on your super more than likely you will have to do away with the park lights on the front, but thats ok cause its not 1986 and no one drives around with just park lights on anymore.
