Hi, My '79 '03 Karmann Bug runs 17*7.5 et52mm with 205/40ZR17 up front and have the tyre pressure at 25psi
At the rear I'm running the same wheels with a 225/45ZR17 at 35psi

Tyres are Goodyear Eagle F1 all round.

What pressures do you have? Maybe we can decide amongst ourselves what the optimum T.P. is.

as i said on the STF:

"stock tyre pressures are where you should start out at, but of course real low pro's like my 45's up front would peel off the rim on corners at anything lower than 20PSI so i had to up that a bit..
remember the stock pressures that VW suggested were not related to tyre size, but vehicle weight.... unless the cars weight changes, you should stick to stock pressures unless of course you run very low profiles up front like me!"

What size tyres are you running Bren?

Instinct is telling me stock tyre pressures are a little too low, they were far too high for my Baja.

This Bug is a Karmann with considerably more wieght on the rear axle, also there is about 25kg of sound system.

Stock tyre pressure at the rear felt awful, I'll have a mess with the pressures and get back.

Anyone else? Tyre pressures?

195/45/16 front
205/50/16 rear..

tried the stock 18psi up front and after a hard 5 minute drive i checked the pressures again, they had dropped to to around 10-12psi!!! argh!! low pro's need above 20psi in them to stop air leaking from between the bead and rim on cornering.. 35psi on your rears sounds very high though.. apart from your stereo, whats adding weight at the back? vw's recommendation for a fully loaded rear end is still only 30psi, and thats taking into account the weight of two people in the back....

slightly different angle...what would you recommend for 235/35/19's on a passat (~3300lbs i think).

the stock recommended pressure will be fine... it will be high enough for the tyre to stay well seated on the rim, and not too high that you wear out the centre of the tread before the edges (this happens if you run pressures too high for the cars weight)
