Call me silly but I,m a vw nut and I just dont know what that means.

A 1302 is a 71-72 Super Beetle(Flat Glass). A 1303 is a 73 + Super Beetle(Curved Glass). Those are the Euro spec model numbers.

The also used an "S" to designate disk brakes (VW1302 S) and an "L" for Deluxe model (VW1302 L)

There was a VW1302 GT too, I believe.

For whatever it's worth, standard Beetles are 1300. VW couldn't use 1301 because Simca had the rights to it -- and I assume they still do while assuming they still exist -- so they went to 1302, then 1303.

1302's were two year cars, at least in the US. and there was a GT. i don't remember all of the specifics but i know they came with 15x4.5 and 15x5.5 stamped steel rims.

Yes the first special model Volkswagen was in '72. Yes the 1302's front fenders and hoods will one day be diffecult to find like the '67's and their one off stuff.

The letter S stands for disk brakes as Yetibone mentioned, but also for the bigger; 1600cm2 engine.

I think it stands for Superior also. :D

I thougt that 1302 GT is USA model for 1302 S. Or was it like 1300 GT(USA) was same as 1300 S in Europe
