Hey all,
got these calipers coming:

As you can see they're grungy and dirty - can I take the pads out of 'em and put 'em in the saf-t-clean tank (mineral spirits) to clean them and then blow them off with the air gun ?
Thanks, Dan

The parts cleaner might cause the seals in the caliper to swell and ruin them. :(
I used engine degreaser and a parts washer brush. Took about ten minutes a caliper and they were clean. :)

Brake cleaner or carb cleaner will definitly take off those fancy porsche logos,so use 409 or simple green and HOT water.

Those Porsche logo's are cast into the caliper. Simple green, engine cleaner, purple stuff, all work about the same. Might want to get a brass or stainless wire brush to get in the nooks and crannies.
If you are going to paint them, you might need to take the clear coat off the calipers first, use aircraft stripper for that, gloves, safety glasses, and lots of water. Plug the brake lines before you clean them.
