I would like to convert my clock to a tachometer. I know it has been done and it would be good to have some help. :) I think it is worthy of another tech article if anyone is up to it. I have a 73 Ghia with the stock speedometer next to the clock. It would be great to have the tach look like it was meant to be there, with the same Bezel, needle and center cap as the speedo.

Thanks
Ron

I dont have any answer to your question, but I have a question myself wich is related to yours.
Would an old porsche 911 speedo fit the standard beetle speedo hole?

I'm sure this has been tried before, but havent found anything.

thanx

No. The 911 speedo will not fit without filling the dash and making a new hole for it. The tachometer will fit, though. Also, the speedo will fit in the speaker hole to the left of the tach.

That would be a shame to do. Well thanx for the reply, and I have to find another way then.

I did it in my bus, it was really easy, there are prongs on the existing gauges usually for power for the lights. pretty much there are 4 wires. one for ground
one for positive current for the tach itself, one for the light dimmer, and one that runs to the ignition coil. its a snap to install, it took a little modification to put it in my Thermometer spot in my dash, but it looks awesome and now i can shift to something other than the exhaust...
