Calipers touching rotors.

I have regular 944 calipers on the front of my car. The part of the caliper that bolts to the spindle is dead on straight. The part of the caliper that holds the piston assembly wobbles a little bit. The tension spring wants to push the sliding part of the caliper into the rotor. Will the problem go away once there is some hydraulic pressure holding the piston out a little. I'm starting to get frustrated with these brakes. Please help, anybody.

I figured it out. :banghead: There is a tab on the slider that fits into a notch on the back side of the brake pad. If you put the tab in the notch the caliper won't drag. :rolleyes: It only took me a few hours to figure that one out. :rolleyes:

What is your opinion of the vdubcustoms work on your hubs? I see you had problems with the caliper but that is obviously not part of their work. I am trying to decide between turbo or N/A brakes for my type 3. I called Lanner today and discussed the conversion. He seems confident in his ability to make anything work.

I am very happy with the quality of the work. With the exception of my lack of skill at reassembling the calipers the swap went on without a hitch. The calipers are exactly where they were on the 944 spindles. All the hardware came drilled for safety wire. The best part is that you can always upgrade to larger rotors later since the rotors bolt on to the outside of the hub. All you woud have to do then would be to get some bigger calipers and adapters. I went with the non turbo brakes because of the cost factor. Four caliper rebuild kits only cost me $44, besides they are good enough to stop a 2700 lbs 944. They should stop a 1900 lbs beetle.
