Ok, I emailed Tony to hold us a swap area at Taccoa. The areas are 10x20 and $5 each. Do we want 1 or 2?

at $5, I would say two. There will probably be more VKG members there this year then last.

"pitch a tent"... :D
The subdivision next to us is called Morning Woods but they haven't been able to keep an S on the signs in eight years... most people don't even notice
I won't be bringing anything to sell but I might be looking to buy some small stuff.

Acres, they could not keep a T on that sign.

Sweet, I'll start sorting all of my stuff that I want to get rid of. I now have a whole bunch on new type 1 performance parts to get rid of. ;)

i used to run a music and video store in college. had an endcap with country music on it and the header read "Country Hits". several times a week i would find that "S" moved to the front of the word. somehow i always forgot to correct it for days though.

Well Smack is all black in back now (Say that 5 times fast). I have a nice stock black rear seat installed, so I will have the complete interior I started with (Burgundy/Gray) for sale a Taccoa. I'm glad I reserved 2 swap spots now, a full set of seats and side panels will take up some space.

I have a small question, it's not about the swap meet, but it is about Toccoa.
Where can I find a map to the show? I started getting ready and no map at all.

Here is a link to the show web page.
http://www.sevwc.com/bugfair.htm
There is a small map on it. You will need to jump across from I-75 to I-985/441 in north GA. I do not know the best way to do that.

Well I used mapquest with just typing in "Toccoa" and "GA" and it gave me the same directions as the website. What time is everybody going to be there an saturday. The gates close at dark so I was thinking of aiming for an arrival time of around noon so if I get lost I can still make it to the show.
How much beer should I bring. :haveadrin :righton:

not sure yet. maybe we can hook up around Discover Mills. that is one of the last exits before I-985 on I-85. it is about 1-1.5 hours from there. we know the way. it is easy.
i am open on time. i was thinking leaving here around 3:00, but am open.
Mikey
August 31st 2004, 22:16
I'll try to leave about 5 or 6 am. Maybe sooner :D but that's not too bad, when I go to Canada, I'll be leaveing at 2 or 3 am  for a 10hr drive.
I might be picking up a Ghia the weekend after the car show, in Kingsport, TN. I'll keep posted on what happens.

We will be at the hotel Sat. nite and see you guys Sun. morning. I'll try to be extra quiet since I know you'll all be recovering .
Does anyone have an idea of the layout and where the group might be located? Will I be directed off to a "bus area" or something like that?
NO_H2O
September 1st 2004, 20:50
I think we will be in the RAT area. If you get there before dark you can drop the bus at the fairground and then go to the hotel. It will be in good hands and you will be registered already so you can just hit a chair with the rest of us in the morning.

September 1st 2004, 21:57
I'll have to play that one by ear, we are staying a town over and I'm not sure when we will arrive. If we make it early enough, getting set-up the nite before sure would be easier...

You bet, and the all the VW hard core folks will make sure it is safe. If it is parked in Jakes area you will have a stone sober hard core Marine/VW guy camping next to it in the RAT Bus. That is like chaining a big pissed off dog to the door.

So when and where are we meeting up. I would like to know in case the power is out for a few days and I can't get in touch with anybody. Joe and I are planning to be up in the area around 3:00 p.m. so I just need to know where to drive to.

September 4th 2004, 20:43
Sue and I will be at the Fairgrounds around 3:00 or 4:00. We'll be driving straight there, so we'll miss the caravan.
The place isn't too big to pick out people or cars in the crowd, and there won't be a major crowd there on Saturday afternoon anyway. Just look for my red truck, my ugly head  or Sue's Bug with the Twisties :D .

September 4th 2004, 20:58
I'll get there when I can, I hope to be able to find the Fair grounds. But if not I'll stop and ask. ;) I'll try to be there around 2 or 3. That's IF my car makes it. If I have problems, I still have Brendan's number, so I'll call him and tell him. :D Unless it changed?

BG, why don't you guys plan on either meeting at my place or an area right around here but closer to the interstate. frankly, i haven't made any plans yet. have a bag and a tent (dave's) to sleep in. that is about as far as they go.
my best suggestion is to meet up at Discover Mills mall on I-85 and Sugarloaf Parkway. it is about 2 miles before I-985. maybe we shoot for 3:00 then?
dave, have you set any plans. anything up with the SEVWC people or AA?

I think I have found a way to get all the swap stuff up to the show. Kathy and Lonnie are passing thru here and said they have room for it in the double cab. They plan to be at the show around 2:00-3:00. If I have them haul the stuff up I will need to drive up wiff them.
Didn't we plan to leave your house at 3:00 last year

3 at Discovery Mills would work for me. I may have the family in tow also.

September 7th 2004, 08:35
cool. let's plan on 3:00 then at Discovery Mills. i will stay in touch with Dave and will try to time hooking up with him, Kathy and Lonnie. hopefully the timing works out. if it rains saturday (not supposed to at this point), i will mostly likely not head up until Sunday morning. we'll see.
so who all is in for meeting at Discover Mills? nigel, me, dave (assuming timing works out). joe and brendan, you up for that? anyone else? yeti, panel and mikey are headed from the other direction. not sure on johnh.

Anybody got an address for the Discovery Mills mall for us "out of towners". I can't seem to find directions for it on mapquest.

September 7th 2004, 20:46
5900 Sugarloaf Pkwy, Lawrenceville, GA. map is attached. Sugarloaf Pkwy is just past the exit to my place...about 5 miles or so. don't remember the exit number though. just watch for Hwy 316 and it is a couple exits past that. about 20 miles outside of I-285.
hmmm. getting some database errors when trying to attach. yet another thing to do. just go to mapquest and use the address above.

September 7th 2004, 22:50
Thanks, I'll mapquest it so I can still get lost.
I mapped it out and mapquest says that the whole trip will take about 10.5 hours. Looks like I will be leaving my house at 4:00 am to 5:00 am at the latest to get to the meeting place on time. I can't wait until I can drive 30 minutes to BUGJAM. :D :agree:

I have some bad news guys. :bawling: I've been thinking about this most of the day, and I don't think I can be able to make it to Toccoa after all. I hate being like this and backing out a few days before the show; but when I commited to Toccoa I had more than enough money, but now I've got a Ghia on the way and I'm planning on going to Canada the second weekend in October. On top of that I've been sick for about a week. So I'm going to the Dr tomarrow and that'll cost more money. I thought I could shake this before the weekend, but I don't think it's gonna happen. It comes down to priorities. (and bad spelling) At least I met most of the members in VKG. I was looking forward to seeing some more GL cars, and hanging out with everyone again. That was Real fun at the last show.
It sucks, I'd push it with this cold, but with out enough money. That won't matter.
I'll be going to the Sevierville, TN show on October 3,4. But I'll be riding with the guy I work for, I won't be driving. If anyone is thinking about going, I'll be there for sure. I'm really sorry guys, this isn't easy to do, but I can't go. :(

That Bus deserves it.

The trailer is borrowed and looks pretty road weary but we are glad to have it! I checked it over and spun each wheel, they all seemed solid and not toooo noisy  .
If it was within 100 miles, I'd man-up and drive it, but 1100 round trip... and hurricane weather creepin' up the states... I gotta be like the BK crew :D .
Several kinks not ironed out, ran out of time waiting on parts. We are coming anyway. I may be "under construction", but I think I will still do everybody proud!

I HAVE to make it to the next show. :bawling: I was really looking forward to getting a close up look at your Bus Panel. That thing is awesome.
I hate missing. :(
