I have the Alloy rear arms and 993 calipers (on loan to see if they fit, I either have to pay for them or give them back), the calipers bolt up, but what rotor/disks do i use (I didn't get the discs with the allory arms, just the hubs)?

Does any one know the width of disk for the 993 rear?

Does any one know the width of the 944t rear disk?

Would the 993 rear rotors fit the alloy arms?

Please Help. Russ:confused:

Thanks,

Russ,

The width of the 944T and 993 rear disks is 24mm. I'm not sure if the 993 rear disk will fit with the alu arms.

I've test fitted a boxster rear rotor 298mm x 24mm that I borrowed from Alex on my stock beetle arms with 944 backing plates and it fit nice....so maybe the 993 rear will fit ?

Maybe you could ask a local porsche dealership ?

Hope that helps a bit.

Sandeep

I think I can just go with the 944t disk and just use the 993 caliper. That should be the simplest solution.

Hello Russ!

Well, the fitment depends to which trailing arms do you have.
If you look at you trailing arms you should be able to find the production year stamped some have and the month (two digits or two sets of two 12 85 December 1985 for example). You have to remove your rear wheel and to look just back from the rotor to find them.If you have the 1985/6 ones they fit both of them (rotor and caliper)if you have the late ones the rotor does not fit but the caliper fit.You can buy a 2-piece rear rotor to fit or to stay with the 951.The offset does not change if you swap the hubs it depends in the trailing arm itself.Another easy way to identify if you have 1985/6 rear arns is to look if they have bump stops.

Jim thanks for the extra info. I checked and they are 1988 arms, so if I go with the 951 (944t) rotors I can use the 993 rear caliper and I'm ok right. Thanks to both you guys again.:D

I would be confident that the 993 caliper would work with the 944T rotor as the rear rotors are the same diameter and width of 24mm.

When you get the rear rotors and fit them, could you confirm that it works via a post for the records !

Thanks

I ordered the 944t rotors on e-bay yesterday. The price was $175.00 + 25.00 shipping, I don't know if this was a good price? Where do you guys get your Porsche Brake stuff?

56Ovali,

I guess you know that with the 88 aluminum trailing arms your track increase is huge and you might have problem fitting rims under fenders. Jim posted the track increase per side on the old boad or on STF and it was more than 60mm per side if I remember correctly. The 86 and older arms onl have an increase of 26mm per side.
The caliper might need to be spaced a bit with a washer or you might have to machine the mounting surface of the caliper a bit to make sure that it is properly centered. It might bolt up directly.
I had to space my calipers out with a washer. (968 caliper on 86 al arm).
