Well Monday Dave Mace came over to the house and we sqaured up the last of the bodywork on Ryan's car. Then we shot $120 worth of Evercoat Slick-Sand High Build primer (great stuff-highly recomended). After we put 1.5 Gal. of mixed high build on it, I spent the next few days blocking it out and finished up with the blocking today. It's ready to spray. Sun. the engine will come out and Monday it will go the the booth for a few coats of PPG Porsche Gaurds Red. The interior kit (black/black/black) has ordered today. I hope I can get it done before the end of the month for his wedding.

Thats a really good deal on paint. I just bought some epoxy primer the other day from Dupont, it was going to cost me around $200 just for the primer...I'm glad I could hustle him down to around $110.

There ar some disadvantages to living in a small town in the middle of nowere!

cant wait to see the pics, I know the car's gonna look great!

The internet is great. Most sites can't advertize prices on PPG stuff. I bought the same pait that was used on the black car for $20 less per gallon and in red. The Slick Sand primer I bought local because I needed it then.
I took some pix but I'm havin' trouble uploading them

Dave, glad to hear that the car is coming along. Now that is a cool wedding present. Is the spoiler on already or being installed after paint?

Well the engine got pulled, we towed it to the booth, wiped it down, masked it off, wiped it down, pushed it in the booth, wiped it down and wiped it down again. It will get tacked and shot tomorrow. Thats alot of wiping. I havn't done that much wiping since my twins were in diapers.

Color sanding is done and the heavy cut buff is done. 3 more stages of buffing and she will be ready to bring home.

Zen. I got that frozen adjustable beam apart today. It took my truck, a tree, a chain, a come-a-long, 24" adjusable wrench and a 6 lb. deadblow. Even with all that I think I can use it for Ryan's car if I get the bearings out and replace them with a urithane bushing kit.

Well, it is home and we will strip the old headliner out and get cracking on the new one today. I got all the new rubber and glass in the drivers door last night so it is air/water tight, well at least untill we strip the old headliner out. The paint came out great. I would recomend Dave and Shannon to anyone looking for paint/body work. www.autobodypaint.net :agree:

Headliner and glass are in. We had some EMPI 1/4 window rubber and WCM front and rear rubber. Had to make a 1 hour drive to Herrel's Bug Parts to get WCM 1/4 window today after the EMPI rubber split trying to install it. The WCM rubber went on like butter. The Empi rubber went on the glass hard and never got completely in the car. My hands hurt bad today from fighting window rubber and pulling the installation cord. But it is all in and most of the trim is on. I just covered it up and I need a nap. To top things off Kustom 1 sent the wrong seat covers for the second time. First time all the int. kit was black except the seat covers were off white (ordered an all black 73 kit). This time I got 70-72 black seat covers. New ones are on the way after some @$$ chewing on the phone.
I hate stupid people.
I will never order from them again. If Herrel's would have had what I needed I would have bought the set from them.

a second time????!!!!!?????

i have only heard a couple of stories about them, but they all had the same theme and same level of customer service...none. always try to put shipping charges on the customer for their misshipment. i have no direct experience with them and not planning on it.

Well the seat covers came yesterday and the front seats are covered and need to have the backs put back on. I have stripped the rear frames and need to get some food and pick up the shop before I get back to it.
All the rubber is in and I am waiting for an intake to be welded to install the engine. The deck lid is done and waiting for the engine to go in. I need to swap the front beam and weld a patch in the rear floor also. The audio stuff showed up 2 days ago, so I need to make a rear cabinet too.

Seats are covered. I will put the backs on the front seats today and try to knock out the speaker box.

I have ordered from Kustom 1 before and will never do so again either.
I ordered a whole mess of rubber from them and ordered either WCM or German which ever was avaiblable. I also order a WCM dash from them and they sent me a cheap piece of crap one instead and still charged me for the good one.

When I called up to ask what was up, they told me the WCM ones were on back order and they didnt have any in stock (so did they make a mistake by sending me a cheap one or did they try to pass it off, seeing as they knew they were on back order?). Then they tell me to send it back and they will send me a new WCM when they get them in. Well I sent it back to them and they call me and tell me that I destroyed it (which was a bunch of BS). Told me that I folded it in half and put it in a smaller box then they sent it to me in. I told them if that was true, then UPS did and not me. In the mean time I called WCM directly and ordered one from them and asked them if Kustom one was a dealer. They told me that they were no longer dealers as of 3 or 4 months before I ordered from them and that they were probably getting WCM products from other avenues other then directly from WCM.

So the moral of the story is I wont be ordering from them anytime soon.
BTW, the owner was a complete a s s to me on the phone and I had to get irate with him to get anywhere.

He still has to do the brakes and wheels but I think I have put him on the right track. And I have spent enough time and $$$ on this one, being that I won't be the one driving it.
Glad you like it.
