Hi guys,
Has anyone used the early (83-85) 944 N/A rear backing plates/ hub/ stub axle/ handbrake assembly with an '86 Turbo rear disc. I have some brembos from a 944 S2 and want to mount them on the rear with as small a track increase as possible. Do the '86 Turbo aluminium arms increase track (+26mm per side) the same amount as the early 944 N/A setup??

Any help and advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Dave :)

Hello Dave!

Well, the 944 steel rear arms will not increase the width. The alloy rear arms increase it by 26mm (1986) and by 60mm (all other years)...

Hi Dave, yes the Brembos and corresponding disc will fit the hub and handbrake and the caliper will need 1.5mm spacing. That's what I'm running. Everything fits.

The steel and Aluminium bearing cap/caliper mounts are dimensionally the same.

Actually I think Sandeep measured his setup with a Boxster disk and the aluminum backing plates.....and it does increase the track by 26mm too. I believe the increase is in the disk.....regardless of which arm you use.

Sandeep,

please confirm this or tell me if I am wrong.

Whether you the fit 944 standard discs or the turbo discs, the track increase is the same, 26mm. The only difference is the diameter of the disc surface. If you are using 4-pot brembos I'd stick with turbo discs as the pads utilise the whole surface area. I had to space the caliper out by 2mm for some reason or another.

Hope this helps!

Andy.
