View Full Version : Bearing spacer for CB Spindles and 944 T Hubs

Greetings,

I have a quick question for you on bearing spacers...

First, I have CB Drop BJ Spindles that I plan on using 87 944 Turbo hubs on. I understand that I will need bearing spacers in order to install them. (I have the hubs on order so I can't check them myself to determine the correct spacer size)

It is basically the same installation as the first 5 photos in the suspension images.

What I am guessing is that I can use stock Porsche bearings on the CB Spindles with the spacers. Is this correct? Also, what is the size of the spacers (diameter, thickness & width)?

I want to get everything ordered so I am ready to go when the hubs arrive.

Thanks,

Doug

You will need to have the Porsche hubs modified to accept the VW bearings - you cannot use the Porsche bearings on the CB spindles.

Lanner at VDubcustoms.com does this

I also have CB spindles and am using Porsche 944t brakes (front and rear) So I've already been through this.

I've used the Porsche bearings with unmodified 87 944T hubs on dropped spindles. I found that you can get 2 different sizes of bearings to fit the Porsche hub, and chose the bigger bearings (much bigger than stock VW bearings), can't remember the part #'s though.

You'd need the bearings to determine the dimensions of the spacers, but give Lanner a shout at www.vdubcustoms.com, he'll set you up.

Cool.

I knew if I asked the question someone would have an answer or contact info for me.

After all, it's not like this hasn't been done before...

I really wanted to avoid machining the hub so that if there was a screw-up in the work, it would only be the spacers being ruined and not the hub.

I'll drop Lanner an e-mail tonight.

Thanks again.
