What spare wheel do I need that will fit in the 'well and fit over my '86 944T front set-up? Karmann '03 with stock fenders. Part numbers?

Matt:)

One from teh donor will easily fit, they have the 'collapsed' sidewall type tyre and are smaller than the stock bug wheel...

Hi MattKab

I bought a 924/944 space saver from Porsche-a-part.

Its a 15 inch about 5.5J with a 165 tyre. It just abouts fits in well. The tyre is already inflated. You can buy the collapsable tyre, but these require blowing up, and are considerably more, not sure if they will fit.

The space saver is the same as what some of the drag racers use, eg Russ Fellows on the front. Its got practically the same rolling radius as my 17s with 215 * 45.

i bought a spacesaver off ebay that is collapsed. it is about 1/4" too wide to fit in the well of my '73 standard. i am planning on having to roll the lip of the well to get it in there.

Thanks. Do you have a part number?

..Or a photo, is it Ally or steel?

no pic yet. will get one asap. the make seems to be KPZ (not sure on the Z as the font is weird). it is 5.5Jx15H2 with a 165-15 collapsable (Space Master) tire. the closest thing i see to a part number is 613 3 E. again, it is steel, not alloy.

hope that little bit of info helps.

KPZ is an abbreviation of kronprinz.. that company also makes wider steels for bugs among other rims..

The spare tire rim I use is a 6/68 POrsche 911 unit that is made by Lemmerz which is 15"x5.5". The early VW 15" wheels on busses were made by Lemmerz as well... And the steal spare tire rim on my wifes Cadillac Catera (made in Germany) is a 15" Lemmerz. Surprising isn't it :)
