RX7 rotor dia

Guys, I got Lanner working on a RX7 brake conversion. But, he's giving me the choice of the rotors that I currently have 276mm dia and then the later year ones which are 294mm dia.

Will the 294 mm provide that much more stopping power? I really don't want to try and get cores for new rotors if the ones I currently got are already over kill ;) or spend money if I don't need to.

I do plan on using 205 front tires with about 150hp, so would the 276mm provide me with enough stopping power?

i would think so. what size rims are you running? can you fit the larger rotors in them? also verify which rotors are more readily available for when you need replacements.

The advantage of larger rotors (A rotor with the same diameter, but greater thickness) is greater thermal capacity .. the rotors will take longer to heat up, everything else being equal.

A rotor with a larger diameter will still lock up the tires ... you'll be fine with the 205's and 276mm rotors.

also, keep in mind, the bigger the rotor the more horsepower you are taking away at the wheels. the engine has to work that much harder to spin the larger mass that is further from the hub.
