I have a steering wheel from a GTI that I want to use on my 72 GL 1302. It will fit the steering shaft of a 74-up. Will a 74-up steering shaft fit a 72 1302, of will I have to cut the wheel spines off them and sleave/dow and pin them.

Well I got a steering shaft out of a late 74 and it is a drop fit and the GTI steering whell fits right on. $10 for a shaft (juckyard) $35 for a GTI steering wheel (swap meet) and I have an all leather kick a$$ Euro Look wheel and no adapter needed, turn siglal kicks off and the horn works.:D :p :silly:

very cool. hell of a lot cheaper than my solution. :D

now you can even steer. what's next, no need to push? throw that engine in there already. just make sure you read for which side is "top". ;)

My list is getting shorter, stuts are together, old bushings out of control arms(arms painted), bump steer kit is in(spindles are painted). Got to finish the fire wall and put the mill in. Your right, TOP.:silly:
