I have read that if you install a 1303 front susepension into a 1302 it will increase the track by 26mm. Is this per side?

I have a 78 super with rack n pinion and would like to put the 1302 suspension in. Is this possible?

The reason I am considering this is so I can decrease the track width so I can tuck my 42mm offset wheels in the fenders. I talked to John at Topline and he said I had to use at least a 55mm offset to tuck. I am hoping that i can decrease my track by 26mm per side.

If possible would it be a direct bolt in?

What is needed to accomplish this?

Yes, you can swap the 1303 for 1302 stuff. You will need the struts, hubs, track control arms, and anti-roll bar. However I havn't heard of the track width change before. Might be worth asking over at www.superbeetlesonly.com first.

I wanted to use the 1987 944t spindle on my superbug 1303. The holes in the spindle are the same distance apart yet seem to be on a different angle ? ANY SUGGESTIONS
????????????????????? :)

That spindle is very different (although it looks simular) to the 1303, it's won't just "bolt up". I have detailed information in the brakes forum, please use that thread.

Okay, just to clear things up here (because 26, 10, & 7mm has been referenced in this topic)...

7mm = difference between track width of 1302 and 1303
10mm = addition of track width, per side front, when adding 944 brakes
26mm = addition of track width, per side rear, when adding 944 brakes
