Is anyone planning on going to Bug-A-Paluza? I plan on going as this is one of my favorites. 2 day show, camping and hotels avail. large swap area. and one of the larger shows in the southeast. Just south of Chattanooga, TN.
You can get info and preregister here.

Hmmm, April 16-17 ... Definitely Maybe.

It's close enough, but I want my seats updated before I trek to Tennessee -- a state I have never been to ... yet. :)

(I hope I'm not out of line for posting since I'm not a VolkSport Käfer Gruppey. ;) I'm not even sure if I would qualify.)

No, you are not out of line. I don't know why you wouldn't qualify? We don't have strict rules on people. The rules on car classes aren't too bad either.

I think we're going (me and the guy I work for) but I'm only 95% sure. Hope to meet up with more VKG members too.

Oasis, Join the club. We'd be happy to have you. :agree:

i'm in. i think the whole family is coming so we will be in a hotel (wife will not camp). we can head up together dave. still haven't decided if i am going up to N vs. S the next weekend.

oasis, you may want to relook at the VKG rules. we changed them significantly last year. anyone can join now. there are separate memberships for a person and for the car. two car classes as well. here (http://www.volksport.net/site/tiki-page.php?pageName=VKG+Membership+Structure) are the details.

Thanks. I just did. I have questions as far as points and matriculating through the klasse-ifications as my 1302 reaches its theoretical endpoint. I'll devote a separate thread when I have time ... don't wanna hijack this one.

I am still hoping I can make it.

Who else is going? anyone?

I'll be there for sure. :D I might have up-to-date pictures of my Ghia to show off while I'm there. I'll try though.

Good news for me ... it looks like I will have The Cruiser back with Phase One completed tomorrow. Bad news ... my 88-year old dad had "an incident" yesterday so I will be taking care of some things for him this weekend instead. I'll meet up with you gents at a later date, for sure. I look forward to that day. Have fun. I want a full report. :)

ok. i am good to go. family can't come now though. :bawling:

still have to pack, but got most everything done to the car that i wanted to today (and with nothing going wrong, which is very odd considering my current streak of luck). have to detail the engine after getting up there. ran out of time today.

i'll call you in a few dave to figure out where we are hooking up. i will be camping now.

really looking forward to this. this is always a great show.

I just got back a little bit ago. Great show. The VKG was well represented. (sp?)

Zen's car is even better in person. Not that Dave's didn't look awesome too. :righton:

Thanks Mikey. Those Splits and Oval you folks brought down look awsome too. :agree:
It was great to hang out with you for the weekend. Bug-A-Paluza is one of my favorite shows. The VolksFlolks sure do know how to put on a show.

thanks for the compliment Mikey. glad you could make it. it was good hanging out. and yes, Tim (i think that was it) has won hell of a car collection there. very, very well done rides.

it was a great show and killer weather. i have TONS of pics that will be going into the show coverage article to come this week. no GLs other than dave and i, but many fine rides. the water guys seemed to get some big props at the show as well judging by the awards if nothing else. some fine examples there as well.

and there always has to be a glitch, huh? seems in changing my starter Friday before the show, i must have left something open in the charging system somehow. i made it to the show fine, but the battery gave out on the way home. thank god for friends though. dave and i just pulled over and swapped batteries. now to start the hunt for what happened.

Thanks for the compliments. :o I'll pass it along to Tim (you were right) You deserved the awards, Both Zen and Dave. I'm sure Tim's cars would be nicer if he wasn't trying to build 3 cars with the same money some people put into 1 car, but it's all good. He still has 4 more to finish. '53 zwitter, '56 & '57 slide roof cars, and a '59 Ghia, along with the '47 Split we're building now. Thanks again for the compliments. I also enjoyed hanging out all weekend. Meeting people and chillin' with people I don't often see, except online.

A side note: they anounced that the other '51 was the oldest, but crotch coolers didn't come out till late '51 (August) They didn't even check Tim's vin (May), even though they said they did. I guess that's neither here nor there.
