I have researched this topic quite a bit lately but am still unsure of which way to go.
Use a bug/type3 gearbox and beetle diagonal arms.
Use same gearbox with early bay diagonal arms.

Which is the better way to go? It will be done to a '62 bus with a twin turbo TIV motor of 2-2.2 L  . I would prefer to use 4 wheel discs and have a set of 944 rears and also a set off a commodore (holden). I may also put airbags under it at a later date.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx

Hi Rob,

I'm converting my '67 split to IRS at the moment.
I use a gearbox (code AT) and arms of a 1303. The engine will be a 2.2 litre type 4.

The donor parts of the 1303:

The fitting:

At front I go for Porsche 944 dics brakes, at the rear for the 1303 brake drum with 19mm cups.
Wheels: 17" Porsche Cup II, front 7J ET55, rear 8J ET70.
Instead of using an arm of a 1303 you can use an arm of a Porsche 944, they are similar, but a 8J with ET 70 won't fit then.
Also I am going for air-ride, but on this stage no useful information about that. That's still "under construction".

The total project of my split bus can be found on www.airtomove.nl
