i have a dilema

i have my 73 super which i've owned for about 5 years now the car was purchased from a guy in mississauga who brought it up from georgia

i notice while doing some restoration work that none of my vin #'s match the ownership.

i called the metro police and they ran the 3 vin's that are on the car.
none of them turned up as stolen.

wondering how i can get a new ownership with the correct vin # for the chassis.

the only way the ministry has said is to get a vw dealer to verify the vin in writing and leave the car with the metro police for them to do a thorough investigation of the vehicle.

what can i do

thanks

What did the 3 vins turn up as? Where are they located? What does the vin on the ownership turn up?

Quite interesting!

the police didn't tell me anything all they would say is that they aren't coming up as stolen in any of the systems cpic, interpol or the matrix database

i have a vin on the floor pan under the back seat and a sticker in the door jam

btw all the vin is from georgia.

i just wish the ministry diddn't want 400 bucks to straighten this mess out.

what if you 'lose' 2 of the vins because the panels needed to be replaced ?
Would it make life easier if there was only 1 vin to deal with ?
(Even though it doesn't match the ownership).

The only VIN that matters is the one stamped on the tunnel, at least that's the case here in Indiana. All the others are removable...

sorry let me clearify

the vins on the car are the same accept for the dash which doesn't matter since i'm replacing it.

but of the 2 vins on the car neither match the ownership

the ownership has a 74 vin and the car is definitly an early 73.

just wondering if i should just get it registered as a differant vehicle with a lost ownership.

and lose the 74 ownership
