My mate has a 73 1303, it currently has 16 x 7 inch 944 rims, but has recently purchased 17 x 7 & 17 x 9 inch turbo rims with a 55et offset. Is anyone else running this wheel setup & what did they do to make it work? Would he be better trying to swap the rear 9's for 8's? the car has standard guards.
Any help would be most appreciatted.
regards
Jak

It sounds like he will be cutting it close on the front. If he has MaXX or Kerscher struts, a 17x7 wheel should fit with an offset of 50-55mm (according to TopLine). They used 205/40-17 tires on the front under standard front fenders (wings). They also used a 1302 instead of a 1303. I know there are subtle differences between the two beyond the obvious difference.

I saw a beautiful (award winning, in fact) 1303 with Porsche wheels last week and didn't even know at first that it had slightly wider rear fenders because it looked so natural. If your mate is dead-set against wider fenders, he may have to settle for eight-inch wide wheels.

my car has 9s on the rear. to keep from cutting the bump stop i used 1.5 inch spacers on the rear and 1.5 or 2 inch wider rear fenders. i belive he should be able to fit if he wants to cut the bump stop, i did not.on the front i had to use a 15mm spacer but i think my fronts are et52 if im not mistaken i also have the Maxx struts oasis was talking about. tell him he can check out my ride in the members rides section page 8 i thinks.
