Hey guys!

I´d like to give my 85er Bug a rear wing like the one of porsche. (Pictures in the Word-Document) It should be convertible like this one. Can anybody help me, where I can get the Parts or some ideas?

Thanks a lot your 1200jubi

beetleraceing.com have a gt2 style wing, not very good shots on site but they have better photos if you ask for em it has an adjustable top wing and huge scoopes for added air flow to engine bay.

The last time I talked via email to Carotta about fiberglass parts they would only sell the whole car, glass and all...

Thanks,

correct me if i am wrong, but the "body kit" off of the red car is porsche 993 bumpers that have been molded to the vw body.

The parts for the motorized spoiler run $650.00 american from 20th street auto. But I found them for $500.00 from here (http://www.911pcar.com/)

Hi

Im not sure how much downforce you will get with that movable wing, I think it would really help with air into motor

This is the beetle racing one that Im going to use on my car.

Has anyone done a study to see if any of these promote downforce?

All of them look too low on the Beetle's downsloping tail end to be effective to me (unless the downforce is more weight oriented than aerodynamics).

I like the looks of em... It doesnt bother me if it actually works or not. I love that 930 and Carrera and the GT-3 look. My dream is to own a 930 3.3 Liter one day....

My question on whether it was functional or not was not meant to be construed as a put-down or a put-down if the answer was no. I tossed the question out there because Steve C is a racer and we have other racers on this site, and I was hoping someone in the know would be able to satisfy my own curiosity. Anything read between the lines with my question is done with pure imagination.

Oasis I didnt take it in the least as a put down.. in fact...if someone did find out if it worked that would be great.
Steve and the guy with the Subaru engine that has a big wing could probably tell us. Im glad you asked actually... wasnt sure how to bring that up.
My only hope is that it doesnt INcrease lift in the rear.

I'm glad. I seem to have gotten under some people's skin lately for no legitimate reason and I have become overly sensitive about it.

Hi

The wing on the race car is the same as mine. The guy who owns the race car is Richard Holzl, he made the wing, he is big als dad and owns VForce racing/ Beetle racing .com

I dont have my car going yet but I expect to gain down force with the wing. The main reason that I fitted it was for cool air intake to air cleaner, it will reach the air cleaner via the side scoops.

ya it worked but it cramped the motor area and the motor didnt cool very well the parts i used i got from a junkyard and i just tossed them when i was finished they were just small electric motors with gas shocks on them

Hey 86svo!

Thanks for the pictures - actually I have spoken to Mr. Carotta - he told me that he would make such a rear spoiler for me, but it would cost about € 1000,--!!!

Your 1200jubi ;)

I just picked up two complete rear motorized spoilers off ebay, pretty cheap.I feel sure I can have similar results as the red beetle on page one.I think I can make it work y using a MSD window switch with one rpm pill on the low side.Say the rpm pill on the low side is 1500 rpm, when the car is over 1500 rpm the window switch would send power and or ground to the spoiler....when the car was less than 1500 rpm the switch would cut power or ground.

Here the car I been working on for the wife.

This is what I did to an old 'duck tail', follwing the german style saying: 'form follows function' (BTW, its an air-air intercooler, NOT a radiator!):

Walter,

That looks amazing ! I know it will work as the intercooler placement is perfect. Let us know what the MAT is as I am debating the A/W IC for an A/A IC to circuit race with.

Thanks

Thanks Sandeep!
Actually, the intake temperature is so low, I hardly dare believe it. I took the car for some 'test runs' (hehe) to see where the waste gate dumped and to check BOV operation (very cool, it sounds like a dolphin) and later checked MAT in the DTA (my ecu) log: it didn't even rose above ambient!
I checked temps by hand when I was out the car again and the intake side of the IC was slightly warm, but the other side was stone cold. In fact it seemed colder than ambient (20 degr C)...
My temp sensor is screwed into the top of the left alu CB hat. I'll see if I can retrieve the log from the 300 km trip and maybe the dyno run (thats over an hour back, so that'll be doubtfull)
So, in this case: size (of the intercooler) DOES matter and it proved to me (although porsche did that many years ago already in their turbo intercooled cars) we don't need no stinking water!

Thank you for the nice comment!
Yes, its an aircooled vw make engine: the 'type 4' motor
Indeed, its a turbo, hence the intercooler ;)

Wally.. i know this is off topic but whats the difference between type 4 and 914... and DTM and upright cooling... can u share a bit...

Wally
August 27th 2008, 15:45
Sure, but it would take a book to write all that...
Like I suggested in my PM to you, the best thing to do is to read into the matter. There's no other way imo unless you're very wealthy and can outsource everything.
