Has anybody else noticed the Appletree Automotive add in Hot VWs? They are selling a conversion kit for the rear torsion housing. It looks like the uni-ball kit that is sold in Europe by a few Shops, but this one is only $US200.00! I think they sell the kit for off roading. I looked on thier web site, but i didn't see them, the kit has been in thier Hot VWs add for the last couple of issues. I've read some threads on here that talk about changing to coil overs, so, i know this might help someone. ;)

Looks like this kit would easy to install, when you figure out what coil overs to run. You can still go the insane route such as Volkdent's GL, at a later date maybe, but this kit could be done over the weekend for the daily drivers.

I just put a set on my off road car. Eagle performance is top quality.
The only problem I encountered was that they marked the passenger side plate wrong.... Otherwise, I'm real happy...

Thats pretty slick! Is that a fiberglass buggy body? What is that bolted to the rod bearing? A frame support maybe?

It's an on going Long pan Manx clone project that I hope to have completed in the next couple of months. I've been keeping an eye on Volkdents front end and comparing results. His is very innovative in the street sense and the packaging looks promising. This is my first attempt and it gets 14 inches of travel. My thinking was to develop a mid travel Double a-arm front end that would bolt directly to a ball joint clip.

That front suspension looks really nice. Any idea on time frame to completion?

Does anybody know if this style system will work for swingaxle?

the spring plates for swing axle are longer than IRS ones so they would have to be custom made, other than that it would work in principle but why not convert to IRS?

that setup looks like toe in/out would be very adjustable.
