Left cable for standard Beetle (1964-77) or Super Beetle (1971-72) (http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=VWC%2D117%2D877%2D3 05%2DA)

Right cable for standard Beetle (1964-77) or Super Beetle (1971-72) (http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=VWC%2D117%2D877%2D3 06%2DA)

Both are in stock. I assume CIP ships overseas. The so-called "standard" Beetle is the US name for a 1300 and the flat-screened Super is more universally known as the 1302. (The 1303 takes different cables.) Finding usable used or NOS cables would be a test of patience.

thnx for the link :agree: I've found this one too last night ;) I knew that the 1303 uses different ones, and as I wasn't sure about names used in the USA, I called mine "1300" to avoid this misunderstanding. What do you think guys about the price? Is it (60$\piece) a good price for it in the States? On the thesamba.com I found a new pair (NOS) but it is for 180 $ which seems extremly high for me. One of my friend has just bought a used set but in very good shape for 40 euros on ebay..so really don't know what to do because I don't have time to waste...

I think going with NOS is always better. Is it $60 better and worth the added risk? That's a value judgment that you will have to determine.

Personally, I'd go with CIP because I have always been satisfied them and their products. I have yet to have had a bad experience with buying something from someone on the Samba but the higher degree of risk is undeniably there.

You were right: this is really a test of patience!! I'm very nervous at the moment  Finally I found a used pair in very good shape on ebay (from Canada). Than I asked an ebay member to place a bid on it + I spoke with my friend's brother who is living in NY to bring it to me... BUT we weren't allowed to bid on it because it was for "shipping only in Canada + US" and the seller didn't answered on my mail... What more could I do? So I missed it, and it was selled for 58$ in pair!!! :bawling:

I understand all too well. I have had to pass on items on the British eBay and the German eBay due to shipping restrictions.

I wish you better luck in the future.

I don't have more time, I have to resolve my cable problem now. I wanted to order it from CIP, but they are out of stock at the moment. Have you got any idea what does it mean? When they will have it again???

Since CIP is a retailer, I would guess they are dependent on whoever the manufacturer of the cables is on supplying them. It is possible CIP knows.

There are two options. CIP has a "Wish List" tab at their site. I don't know exactly how it works but in many cases with Internet retailers you add the items you want to this list similarly as you would if you were adding them to a basket for checkout. When the items come in, you are notified by e-mail.

Some retailers even give priority to those who express interest through their wish list and in order of registering. Some don't. A wish list is not a commitment to buy like a backorder as such. I am not sure of CIP's policy.

Because a wish list is not a commitment to buy, you are free to search for other alternatives.

The other option is e-mailing CIP at customerservice@cip1.com.

There was an item I wanted in December they didn't have then. Although I didn't use their wish list, that part became available a couple of weeks ago. This is probably not comparable since this item is probably not from the same manufacturer or supplier, but it gives me confidence that if they have it listed they do expect to have it again in the future.

Really? Your bug is an 1303 isn't it? Mine is a flat window (standard) bug.
By the way, the difference between standard's ans sb's cable is only the length??? Because from a longer it's easy to make a shorter one. In this case a jetta or golf would be great for me, and it's easy to find in europe...

Go on, try it!!! Thank you guys for the great info!!!! Finally I found a roof from a Golf II (rabbit) and with some "woodoomagic" it's cable will fit to my standard. I'm very happy with it, exspecially because I bought the complete roof for around 30$ :D I don't know how but the cables are like new ones. So thanks again, and now finally the bodíworks can be finished and we can start to paint it ;)
