Hi,
I have a 52mm VDO CHT gauge (black ****pit style) and I want to modify the face of the gauge. It does not look like the black bezel comes off.
Has anyone modified the interior of this style of gauge ?
It looks like you could take a hacksaw blade and cut the top off the gauge, about 1/4" below the bexel, being careful to just break through the plastic. To put the gauge back together would require a little plastic glue.
Any suggestions ?
In case you are wondering why I want to do this ... I have modified my datalogger to sample all 4 CHT's and signify the hottest temp of all 4 cylinders. I will light a green LED in the gauge for temps of 300F to 325F, a yellow LED for temps of 326F to 360F and a red LED for temps above 361F (all of these are user selectable through software). The needle in the gauge will work as originally designed.
