anyone ever roll their beetle fenders?

i just installed a lowering kit on my 74 superbeetle. i didnt set it to the lowest setting. its an empi adjusta strut kit with a 7/8 sway bar. im currently running the stock wheels and tires and they fit still but rub a little when i turn the wheel all the way, just slightly. i like the way the tires look on the car so i dont wanna get smaller tires and lower the car even more.

I am just not sure how good of a job it will do and for the price I could just get some wider fenders.

ya it looks like it would work pretty good but its kinda pricey.

i know a guy in my club who bought a fender roller i might see if he still has it and borrow it. i just need a little clearance. id buy different tires before i bought wide fenders since if i bought new wide fenders id have to get wider tires as well. im just not ready for those steps in my project yet. im just having fun and saving up for the GL restoration

If they're aftermarket fenders, they often have extra material in the fender lips due to poor stamping. You may look at trimming back the lip with tin snips or a cut-off wheel.

If you don't want to spend $250 for a one-time-use tool or buy new fenders, go to a body shop. I was quoted $75 for all four fenders. (I eventually found a different solution.)

The trouble with this tool (or a baseball bat and towel -- a suggestion tossed my way at the time of my consideration :rolleyes: ) is being able to practice on a few fenders before doing your own for real.
