the body have the channels removed and a metal bead instead of the plstic guard beading.

I,m using a 74 pan but removing the front and using a Mitshubishi L300 front end

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g158/malcolm_05/IMG_0802.jpg~original

this allows me to use the front disc & 7" wheels t comply with road laws in Victoria Australia it will be channelled 40mm higher to lower car and keep wheel geometry.
I,ll be welding in a complete 944 rear end 60mm higher for the same reasons as the front.

rear brakes honda NSX stud pattern allows better selection of wheels front the same stud pattern

gearbox porsche 915 .
http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g158/malcolm_05/IMG_0813.jpg~original
wheels will be 18,s rear & 17,s front.

Hi 56oval,

nice project.

Saw that you will be working with 915 gearbox. If you need short nose cone, front/rear mounting, axle flanges 100 mm,... ---> then have a look on www.bugat5speed.de

I like that you have a plan. I, too, would like to see the progress as it happens.

Can you provide some additional detail about your front suspension. What body style did it come from? I'm guessing a truck? What it the distance between the wheel mounting flanges? Great project, let's see more progress!

the front end is out of a 1984 Mitsubishi L300 van Hot rodders in Australia have used them. The other front end I thought of was Fiat 124cc .

Malcolm,
is the 944 torsion tube exactly the same length?
Rich

56oval
July 14th 2006, 05:12
same width as super beetle and the steel arms are the same except for the longer axle & larger drive flange.you could do the same with the orignal torsion tube ,but in australia road adrs are a pain and using 944 rear helps me out.

Those are porsche? what did they come from? I know that vw are red and porsche are blue, but i didn't think they made them shorter.

Looking good Malcolm :) Are you going to bridge over and under the trans to tie the two sections of torsion bar housing together?
Rich

rich I will over the top ,the bottom if I have enough clearence to remove the transmission.

Looking good Malcolm, but I think you could get a LOT more strength into the middle by closing off the hole infront of the trans...
Rich

56oval
September 17th 2006, 22:32
Rich the hole in front of the trans is forthe shifter rod & coupling if you have a look at the earlier pics youwould see that plate goes right across the tunnel.
I,m going to modify the orignal pan and use this one as a test bed.

ricola
September 18th 2006, 03:40
Another thought... I wonder if you could make the front trans mount structural? That would keep it removable, just have to think of a way of getting some rubber back in there..
Rich

56oval
September 19th 2006, 01:03
I being working on the trans mount ,either have it welded in and have a neaprene block with longer studs on the trans case to brace things .Or have it removable .got a few ideas at the moment.did you get the double wishbone front end finished .And I haven,t seen you post on aussieveedubbers for a while.

ricola
September 19th 2006, 06:28
The double wishbone stuff is on hold until I get another car that could use it, would want to do some testing..

I'm on the aussie forum every day checking up on people's progress, but I'm stuck finishing off my Phantom GTR at the moment (new daily driver), after that I'll get back on with the wrx cabrio.
