What are the top and bottom steering wheels from? I like 'em both. :)

I bet they are from a Dacia car...some eastern european manufacturer. I dont remeber country of origin though. To the untrained eye the emblem seems like the Volksburg one. I used to have the bottom one on my 72 camper

Really? I understand it going onto a late Karmann Ghia but it is on a 1960-something bug in the picture. I have to wonder if it will go onto my 1971 1302's spline and if it does so with an adaptor, which adaptor?

Hi,

It wouldnt fit my ghia spline so I am using an 84 jetta colum assy, that way I have electric squirter switch, intermittent wipers, even trip computer and cruise control switches, but it looks similar to a late ghia colum. It was way cheaper than getting an aftermarket wheel and adapter, and better.

Plus that wheel is colapsable, so I removed the colapsable part from the stock shaft.

Thanks for that clarification. Although not a current top priority, I wanted to look into what might be involved in swapping out the steering column on my '71 Super.

Both steering wheels are definately OEM VW/Audi steering wheels.

What did it involve using the Jetta column? Any problems? Interesting Idea....!

But back to topic: would really love if anyone know of one for sale, and could give me a hint!

It was actually easier than I had planned, I used the ghia tube and notched it a bit to slide on the larger jetta tumbler/bearing housing. Then i took the jetta spline cut it just after the bearing, cut out the ghia clamp to the steering box and joined them with a pipe, couple of welds. Then I took a jetta wiper motor and adapted it to the ghia wiper mechanism, wired up the relay to the switch and voila! Now I can drive in the rain.

Hi,.

As in the previous post... Anyone know of one, or could give me a link to a good place to post this ad? A veteran VW forum in germany etc..

Already know of the ebay, thesamba, shoptalkforums and such...

Interesting arrangement of the Rev counter. Any special reason for that Bry?

when the needle is at the 12:00 position its usually time to shift, kinda like an old school shift light. I have seen the 911 guys do it, and it kinda works too :)

Old racer trick, turn all the gauges so the normal reading is 12 o'clock.
Easier to check the engine condition at a glance.
