Since I know you guys hanging out here like brake upgrades, I wanted to post some pics of my - hopefully - succesfull rear disk brake upgrade:
Original trailing arm with 924T steel backing plate, bearing cover and handbrake shoes installed (bolt-on):

Turned-down (machined to smaller diameter to clear handbrake lever) original axle flange:

Fitment of 944 turbo disk and C2 caliper (it obviously needed a custom spacer):

Spacer/adapters made!:

Nice adapters Wally :agree: . Not many 412's over here though :( . I'm sure you will keep a typeIV in it though :D .

Thanks,
Yes, that's the amazing part of it: It has a type 4 as the stock engine!
But it won't be a 'stock' type 4 4ever,combined with everday traffic with ABS equipped cars in front of me on the highways, I can use some more stopping power for the 18" rubber :D :

Great job Wally! Hey, those wheels are a different (silver instead of gold) color now. How many sets do you have?

Thanks!
The golden ones were taken from my white 1303 because of a temp tire change :D
These are the dedicated 412 wheels :D

Outstanding stuff Wally! :D
I'm not well versed in 411/412 original equipment. Are the original rear hubs, and brake drums like Type III parts, with a drum that's removable from the hub?
That's impressive how you engineered the spacers.

Thanks :)
Yes, the rear drums of a 412 are in fact most all type III parts. All, but the rear hub. That unique rear hub is what neccesatated the complicated spacer.
I have long thought it wasn't possible to use 944 parts and not having to weld anything on the arms, but suddenly, on a bright moment, I got the right idea and a friend from a friend was able to make what I had in mind :D
After that it was a 'bolt-on'.

Yep, I thought the hub and stub axle looked a little strange to me. Never seen a VW or Porsche hub without an axle nut before. :o Looks like the parking brake shoes will be easier to service with the hub machined that way as well.
