I like these wheels and was wondering if you guys think they would fit under the stock rear fenders and possibly front too.If not the front they do make a 15x4 in these also.http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=WLD%2D90%2D56086&view=1&N=700+150+302039+4294793325+4294813591+4294795078+

Are you trying to fit them on a super or standard? The disclaimer under "notes" is alittle scary, but maybe alot of rims say that? let us know.JR

i had those in 6" fronts with 3" backspacing on my '74 standard and they stuck out about an inch. i think 6" with a 4" backspace would either tuck or come very close. my 7" on the rear didn't have any problems, but it wasn't lowered, either.

Mine isnt lowered yet. Would the 6" fit ok in the rear? The front I most likely would run the 15x4's.
What bolt pattern did you have, because I only seen a 15x4, 15x6 and a 15x8 avaliable for the 4-130 bolt pattern.

i had the 4x130 in 6", 7", and 8". i think the 7" would've tucked, but i can't swear to it. i can't imagine the 6" would not tuck easily in a normal amount of lowering.

i'll try to dig up a picture of the rears.

here's a rear shot. it's not the greatest for showing how they would've tucked, but consider that these rears are 7" with larger tires and i think 6" would fit with zero problems.

Ok cool, from the looks of it a 6" wide would work, Id run my current 195/60's on them.
Now for the front, would you think the 15x3.5 (or 4 which is what they really are) would stick out?

Not sure what size tires to run on the front though, but I refuse to use 135r15's there to narrow so maybe a 175/55 work work, anybody got any ideas? I dont want them bulging out the sides though.

weren't the vw stockers 4" wide? i've never had stock wheels, so i don't know what their offset was, but i assume that if the offset is close then the 3.5" would have to fit.

find out the stock offset and you'll know for sure.

i think those wheels are sweet, by the way.

the stock wheels i think have a 4" offset...not sure bout these though

davetaylor

the 3.5" wheels have a 1.75" backspace and a -12mm offset so they sound like they'd fit. i could check my spare for its size, etc., but it's a '79 super so it'd be way different.

ok thanks dave, im not really sure how different supers are up front when it comes to wheel fitments though lol.
nice bug by the way.

ps what look would mine acttually be considered lol
its 2 tone will maybe lower the car in front with drop spindles,or adjustable beam(if narrowing is needed) no discs, stock drums. Rear will be MAYBE lowered and inch or 2, think it would be ok?

yeah, super front sizes and offsets are wholly different.

i'm not sure if there's a "look" that your car fits into, but i'm not big into that kind of thing anyway. my next project is only "german look" because i came across a set of porsche brakes cheap, which meant i had to run porsche wheels. otherwise mine would have an unknown "look" too.

i think your car will look good with those wheels at that size. no one ever sizes them well and they never look just right. that includes mine because i got them from a friend, and beggars can't be choosers.

just go with whatever you want because that'll ultimately make you the happiest.

15x4.5's front and rear with 195/60/15's on them.

i've always liked those wheels. if i were you i'd probably just polish the heck out of those and spend wheel money on suspension and brake upgrades. ghia brakes are cheap!

yeah but the stick out on all 4 corners, frontend is like yours in your picture. the rear is bout half that.I thought bout using them but there 4.5" wide, if I build a hi po motor they might spin alot. Also they got a 0 offset and I dont think ghia discs will fit behind them.

I do have and idea for them but donno if it would look right. If I did use these, Id narrow the front 2" maybe that would be enough to allow me to lower the front 3" and then for the rear, buy 1 1/4" wider fenders to cover them fully and lower the rear 1 or 2". If i could maybe theres a tire that would fit better than a 195/60 does, they kinda balloon out but not really bad.

Veedub

Either that idea or this.

If theres a 165/80/15's(or someting similar) with a performance look Id run them on the rear and if the size exists 165/60/15 (if they do exist I cant find any) for front.
Tire specs from a site I been playing on
165/80/15
Sidewall:5.2"
Radius:12.7"
Diameter:25.4"

165/60/15
Sidewall:3.9"
Radius:11.4"
Diameter:22.8"

Im trying to avoid the bubble look on my tires.

i think there's a 175/55/15 available. and there's an even smaller one, like, 165/45 or something crazy like that.

i'd spend the money on correctly sized wheels because once you factor in the price of wider fenders and a narrowed beam you could have a pretty nice set of wheels. ccc fenders are $200+ with shipping, so fenders alone are more than some sets of wheels.

Actually I was looking at the wheels on my parts bug that has the 8 spokes on it, my 4.5's look like they are the same offset as those just not as wide. I found a place that sells 145/65's and thinking about eventually getting a set, and use the current tires just in the rear since the rear dont bother me.The more I look at it, I am thinking wider fenders wont be needed at all, just a 2" narrowed beam, I wont use drop spindles or disc brakes since I want the full 2" narrow of the beam.My motor will most likely have bout 100hp si it should still be able to stop good, with the added hepl of a smaller tire up front.

I guess Im just trying to get a different look while staying with the VW bolt pattern.I was thinking of going with the baja style rims but I think they would stick out alot even if they are 15x5 and 15x6 that Id want.

Well...Ghia discs wont work on these do to the offset.
Which leaves me to ask, will Porsche 924 wheels 87-82 with the 4-108 bolt pattern fit inside the fenders of a 72 standard bug with stock fenders?im aware the vw pattern is 4-130 though.Anyone know the offset to these by the way?
