All,
Who is going to these events ? Where are we meeting up and when ? what time does the drag racing start ?
I got the leak fixed ... I forgot to tighten up the AN fitting on the top of the oil cooler :o I could have been at the meet last night.
The bug rips .... but I'm thinking I need a muffler after the turbo now :D
Pete ... is your video camera mount universal ? Could it be swapped into another bug easily ? :D

Got a pic of your seats? The mount clamps to the headrest posts.

Gates open at TMP at 10:00 to my understanding. We should all meet up and cruise down. Maybe meet up at the Royal windsor as usual? thoughts?

Thats not going to work ... I don't have head rest posts.
I'm going to have to figure something out ... I was talking to Lanner about an aluminum bar (1" dia) that uses the grab strap mounting locations (remove the straps) and then machine a clamp out of aluminum and use one of these mounts (http://65.102.174.116/rammount/productdetail.aspx?partnumber=RAM-B-101-A-237U)
Might have to rig something up for drag day.

How long to get to TMP ?
I would not mind grabbing a bite before the drive ... McD's / Dennys ? in the area ?

Gates open at the track at 10am.
If you take the QEW to Highway 20 in Stoney Creek you go past some food joints. I usually stop in Caledonia at the McDonalds and eat before I head to Cayuga. I hope to be at the track at 10, but will be lucky if I am there by 10:30. Will be nice to see some other turbo air-cooleds there.
Plan on spending the better part of an hour to get to the track from Mississauga. 45 minutes if you're speeding like a demon.

I will be heading out from Oakville hopefully by 9:30am. If I go there via Mapquest it takes me down gravel roads, so let me plan out a route and let you know. I hate going up Centennial Parkway because it is so busy and has lots of lights. Last time I went I went 403 to the new #6 shortcut past the Hamilton Airport, #6 to Caledonia, then turned left before the bridge and that road takes you out to the track basically.
MY POINT BEING that if anyone cares to follow me, and is at my house for 9:30 sharp, then let's do it. E-mail me for my address, it's 5 minutes off the QEW in Oakville. I will have my 20' trailer so I am not really interested in meeting up in a parking lot somewhere....

IMPORTANT NOTE!
I am not sure what the track requires for safety, but wear or bring long pants just in case. T-shirts are okay, but some tracks require you wear pants to race.

Greg,
I have emailed you about directions to your place in Oakville for the drive down on Saturday 930am.
Is there anything else a drag racing 'newbie' needs to know ?
Thanks

Sandeep:
Just make sure you have or wear pants. And have seatbelts. Other than that, you are ready to go. I can get into the actual racing part of it tomorrow with you like when to leave the line (last amber bulb), etc.
See you at 9:30!!
Oh, and in case you did not get my e-mail response, it is 2193 Oak Bliss, L6M 3K1

What a blast that was !
Alex had some bad luck and broke an output flange from his gearbox. Greg's car was killer.
Some awesome cars there for sure.
I ran 2 states of tune ... 10 psi and 19 psi
10psi - 15.31 @ 89.89 mph but I was hitting the rev limiter ... forgot to change that setting in MS
19psi - 11.94 @ 113.82
icewater in the A/W intercooler, Sunoco 94 Ultra. The gearbox is sounding a little weird though now
I'll scan the slip and post it on Monday
See you at the Jitterbug on Sunday

It was a blast! had a great time, except for my minor breakdown... lol
I only got to do one pass, and i basically fell asleep at the light, and pulled a 16.13 at 85 MPH i think i should be low 15s or high 14s though. But hey, it was my first time at the track, and the car may still need some tuning.
I really wish i saw your run Sandeep, that time is incredible! Nice to finally meet you too, neat to put faces to names
Gregs car was looking great, and super consistent.
I dont remeber the name of the guy that had a smiliar colored car, but it was gorgeous and pretty quick too.
I think we need to do another one of these again (once my car is fixed:D )

Nice to meet you too Alex.
It looks like I have some damage as well .. cracked drivers side CV and a slipping clutch :(
I have the spare parts to fix the issues .. its going to be a long night if I'm going to make the Jitterbug tomorrow. Have to pull the engine to fix the clutch.
John is the name of the fellow with the other coral bug .... that is a sweet and clean machine for sure.
Let us know what happened to that gearbox.

Well Sandeep, you were at JJB today so was it an all night thrash?
I had a great time. Alex, John Woolsey is the guy's name with the other Coral VW and he won his (our) class at JJB and best paint. Eveytime he beats me (twice now) he asks me why, it's funny. My car was still in the same state it was at the track Saturday, complete with rubber all over the *** end and bugs plastered to the front so that may have something to do with it. I had time to clean it AFTER the judging.
Thanks to eveyone who made it out to the track with their VWs. I had a blast. We'll have to do it again soon when Alex gets to car back together. July 21 is just a test'n'tune according to the schedule.... Anyone in?
